As an old f rt, I liked the 'trip way back'! (That was also a great year for cars if you could afford large quantities of Sunoco 260.)
-
Ha! I was going to say that I particularly liked Dawg's green on green on green at the top left. And make a comment like "mmmmm... minty!" (You know, like spearmint.) But now that I've seen Killer's marbles, I guess they should get the same comment!

Here's another "I just saw this" commercial. I don't know how to react Got a big laugh from it, but at the same time couldn't help feeling like my intelligence had been seriously insulted! What do you think? ( :
-
Just checked out one of Linda's commercials. She's 'him', all right! ( :

I'm hoping that everyone will know that 'brilliant' in this case refers to absolutely 'pure' advertising. Heck, in some cases this includes people like 'Crazy Eddie', with totally obnoxious ads that 'worked'. (Anyone remember him? I'll bet Ant does!) Of course in another way, it's the best of the SuperBowl commercials that are truly brilliant. But they're actually an 'alternative art-form'. Any honest person in the advertising business will tell you that they're ridiculously expensive, and don't result in a significant increase in sales.
-
Which is kind of a double-sin since it was hurtful to both you and your friend's original intent.

Just saw this for the first time. 15 seconds! Most people start off with an expensive 60 second ad, then quickly realize that it's mostly 'filler', and cut it back for later broadcasts. This is 15 seconds of exactly what they wanted to say and it's perfect. Also, they've taken this 'efficiency' to the next level. The superficial idea is that your kids will at least temporarily drop all their foolishness when it's 'Manwich Time', since they're just so good! But without having to 'say' anything, the very fact that this is a nice mother-daughter moment is also suggesting that no one cares about the possibly 'silly' name of the product. Women can't resist it either! ( : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhSeSKoCz14

Geesh. I guess hitting the streets with a shoe-shine box as a kid when I wanted spending-money wasn't as brutal as I've always remembered it. ( :

Thanks, guys! I was beginning to think this might be one of those posts that get no responses and leaves me worrying why. Looks like Ric's right. I had no idea. I'm probably sort of pre-biased toward this photo, what with its photography motif and the beautifully done black and white. But my immediate feeling was sort of a 'Mona Lisa' thing. Which I guess is kind of what Ric saw too. ( :

Fantastic! Thanks for taking me up on my subtle hint! ( :

I didn't have anything particularly interesting interesting to say tonight. (And thanks a lot to those who are now saying "What else is new, Bob?") So I went to my 'temporary folder' to see if I could find something. (It's where I store anything that I think might have future potential.) This is one of the greatest 'portraits' I've ever seen. Bam! I said it! I'm starting to remember that I thought this same thing when I first saw it. Think I filed it so I could look at it again later, just to make sure I wasn't drunk the first time. If this was my daughter, I'd want this photo so much more than having her 'made-up' excessively and in some traditional pose where the photographer makes sure to tell her to "show some teeth with that smile!" (If she looks familiar, this is one of the young actresses from the 'Modern Family' television series.)
-
It sure is! Looks like he's trying to cover both technical and 'personal opinion' aspects of the subject. Any of our glass experts familiar with this guy?
-
Sure is a shame there wasn't a photo of it all lit up. Yep. Sure is.

It's preposterous the many ways these institutions make our money disappear. They might as well be pointing a gun at us and taking our wallets and purses.
-
Saw this thing while searching for 'marbles and fish' for another post. Apparently it can be plugged in, but there wasn't a photo of it lit.
-
Cool. We haven't had much 'other uses for marbles' talk recently. Didn't know about the 1 in 7 figure. Or the red and yellow theory. And especially the fish farms! ( :

O...M...G...! Just when the world felt it was safe from me continuing to go on and on about Aces! I promise I won't do that this time. But this post does lead toward some interesting thoughts, especially because of recent posts which seemed to suggest that too many JABOs look similar. This thought can be considered both 'right' and 'wrong'. Like so many things in life! I'll continue with this later, and only in small doses.

Hey Ric! That was an outrageous 'putting two and two together' concept! My mind's a little blown, but it's Saturday night and I like it. ( :

I'm with the "Whoa...!" kid!

Thanks for the responses! Winnie, there was a large outside fish market in my neighborhood when I was a young boy. It was an interesting place, and I thought I wouldn't mind working there when I got older. But before I read your comment, it didn't occur to me that these people are under constant stress from 'The Bird Problem'. And I suppose 'The Cat Problem' too!

He's very far away. Wouldn't normally try to get a photo. But I like the way his shape and the tree's fit together here, and it worked out okay. ( :

Ooof! That two-toned blue on clear blows me away! I'm just guessing on this one, but I figure the marble is what "...condenses all vapor, and allows no aroma to escape." I enjoy this concept! Unlike the Folger's people, who always have the entire house smelling like coffee in their television commercials, this manufacturer seems to be implying that no aroma means that all the flavor remains in your beverage! Thanks, Steph, for the cool ad(s) as always. I've loved these since I was a little kid. One year, back in Prehistoric time, someone came out with a modern reprint of the 1909 Sears-Roebuck catalogue. It was the only thing I wanted for Christmas. Visited Grandma for the holidays, and told her about it. She decreed "Then you shall have it!" As I later figured out, Dad already had it for me under the tree back home. As often happens in the sit-coms, 'hijinks ensued!' ( :
-
So Morgan! What got you into the 'Christmas Spirit' enough to respond to this topic? ("Meeting all you great people at TMC!" would be a good answer.) Glad you're checking out 'The Lounge' along with the more serious marble 'forums'.

This is the San Remo apartment building in New York City. It's the one with the twin towers. Does it look familiar? You've probably seen it dozens of times without knowing it! 96.432% of all movies and television shows that take place in Manhattan have at least one scene where it's in the background. Many of them in the opening credits. Film makers can't resist it. Check out this link for famous people who live(d) there, and other stuff. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_San_Remo At the moment, there are some 3-bedroom apartments available, ranging in price from 8 to 30 million dollars. Don't know what the monthly co-op fee would be. Life's too short to worry about such things! But if you'd like to check the place out before committing yourself, there's also a rare 4-bedroom rental for only 30 thousand monthly! Tempting as it is, I will not be residing in this building anytime in the near-future.
