Heaton Agate site dig 9-21-19
Columbusrockhound replied to Columbusrockhound's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Crap, I need to make a new avatar! -
I took some photos and Linda sent me some additional photos of the digging action for the web site. It was another good time, good weather, a good haul and some new friendly faces. http://westvirginiamarblecollectorsclub.com/pastshows/?view=30&pg=1 I went straight to my original treeline pit and staked my claim, then had the track hoe operator help me get passed those unyielding oven bricks a few feet down. Here's half the day's booty. Check out the cache of oxblood cullet in the last photo. http://westvirginiamarblecollectorsclub.com/pastshows/?view=32&pg=1

Look in mirror? Am I supposed to see fraud in this mirror? I'm so sick of crybaby posts about crybaby posts. It's people like you that promote enabling fraud, by bashing those who try to dissuade it. -
Ron's off hunting, so I'm taking the liberty of posting a link to the West Virginia Marble Collector's Club news page, where I set up links to the gallery. Kidz Club pictures from Ron and Nola providing marble info. and games for kids at the annual Gilmore community fair event. Also, my pictures taken at the 2018 Sistersville marble festival during a slow period late Saturday. It was my only chance to get away from my display after a bustling morning and afternoon. Of course, I had to get a few shots of the Marblewagon. After all, it was the first time I have taken it out in three years due to the restoration. I literally got the driver seat and stripe applied Thursday, before driving up Friday morning. Have yet to install the passenger seat! People seemed to like purple over the former yellow. Great time. I can't thank Jim King enough for managing this event. Thanks to all the crew and marble friends who helped set up and tear down. You know who you are. Oh, Bill, bill, bill. So close...but so faaar away. Hope you're doing better. Link http://westvirginiamarblecollectorsclub.com/news/ If you haven't been to the site since before October, scroll down a touch more and check out some marble identification upload links. Killer Pelts! Nice variety of Davis machine made.

If you notice any errors in my article e.g. 'everyone' and adventurine...not my error. Transposition mistakes. -
Y'all ever see a Jabo like this?

Without digging them out, It is likely either Joker II, Ultra, or E.T. Crystal. Me sways to Ultra. -
After a few discussions, David Tamulevich and I collaborated to get a pictorial guide to Cairo Novelty marbles online via-the West Virginia Marble Collector's Club web site. David's Archaeological finds, packaging and cross referencing collections have resulted in a knowledge base on the matter, second to none. Enjoy. http://westvirginiamarblecollectorsclub.com/identification/?cat=17&pg=1

Let me give credit where credit is due. I've had many blow outs with many sellers. Fortunately, many of those were willing to make amends and we are able to have civilized dealings. Dave McCullough, Rick Hall, Steve Sturtz, Russ Kasmar, and many more. If any seller thinks they have a big grievance with me, they should know they are small peanuts in comparison to the fore mentioned sellers, in spite of any and all other opinions. Yes, I've ranted. Yes, I'm a bit pissed off. Sometimes...at three in the morning, my daily perusal of ebay can be really aggravating. If I've offended anyone, I apologize. Like I said, we all make mistakes. To those who contact me when I make a mistake, thank you. To those who can take some critique, you're a gem in a field of debris. I'm always open to take the high road if we can walk it together. Happy Holidays. To the others, go on and cry to the moderators of this board. -

Had some issues with the site since a server upgrade. Any empty links are now fixed. I finally added some pictures from the Sistersville Marble Fest'. Beautiful weather this year. Big, big thanks to Jim King for the tremendous effort to make it happen. Pretty cool to have half the downtown roped off for marble maniacs. The pictures can also be found accessed within the link posted below in news/events, if you want to save time with navigation. http://westvirginiamarblecollectorsclub ... ew=10&pg=1 I updated the News/Events. Thanks to all of you out there who posted info. online. Some listings are not yet complete, but the dates and times are accurate, that is if Cairo is a go. http://westvirginiamarblecollectorsclub.com/news/

Due to time restraints, I've decided to use some of my photos from the display wall at the Jabo Inc. production office. I used an older T-50 camera, natural light, and cramped conditions, but overall, they do the job pretty well. These cases are not all inclusive, and as time allows, I will post photos of my personal collection that will fill a many gaps. I will also be photographing many 1" runs, post-'05. Take your time looking through them, as you will discover a lot of things, and may notice a few very close matches within two different runs. If you find to have examples that are seemingly indeterminable, look for pattern continuity as far as pattern mapping, and number, and thickness of filaments, or color strikes. This solves the riddle of "Turtle, or not". Know that the variegated green yellow from '01 is the true Turtle, not as seen in, and often described from '03. Color was not the only reason it was named Turtle. It has a lot to do with the multiple stacks of variegated colors that angle, and turn, like one would see on many native close specie North American Turtles. Painted turtle, Red Eared Slider, and some other sub-species. In some cases, only in hand comparisons with adjacent marbles within the run, are the only way to differentiate, as one can detect color similarities that will only fit that run. Do not use this to identify a different size machined example, as I've seen the same glass used in a 1" run, that was used the previous year in a 5/8" run. Enjoy. http://westvirginiam...on/?cat=23&pg=1

generally don't want to be hassled with fraudulent listing corrections. I've found sellers who have blocked my bidding, automatically block my messages, as this may be the case. Either way, they know what they're doing. Cheating unsuspecting victims. Here's some mid, to late 2000's Misrepresented Jabos. http://www.ebay.com/itm/623-Vintage-MF-Christensen-Marble-Root-Beer-White-Swirl-Diaper-Fold-Turkey-NICE-/350761922388?pt=Marbles&hash=item51ab0a2f54 Jabo http://www.ebay.com/itm/623-Vintage-MF-Christensen-Marble-Root-Beer-Red-Blue-Swirl-Diaper-Fold-Turkey-/221211309268?pt=Marbles&hash=item338138b4d4 Jabo http://www.ebay.com/itm/644-Antique-MINT-Peltier-Marble-Green-Orange-Swirl-Diaper-Fold-Turkey-Nine-/221211334267?pt=Marbles&hash=item338139167b Jabo http://www.ebay.com/itm/619-Antique-AKRO-Hybrid-Swirl-Marble-Vintage-Blue-Red-White-Appearance-NICE-/221211338811?pt=Marbles&hash=item338139283b Jabo http://www.ebay.com/itm/624-Antique-MF-Christensen-Marble-Oxblood-Green-Brick-Swirl-Diaper-Fold-NICE-/221211342567?pt=Marbles&hash=item33813936e7 Jabo http://www.ebay.com/itm/561-Antique-MF-Christensen-Marble-Oxblood-Green-Brick-Swirl-Diaper-Fold-Duck-/221211347257?pt=Marbles&hash=item3381394939 Jabo http://www.ebay.com/itm/571-Antique-MF-Christensen-Marble-Oxblood-Green-Brick-Swirl-Diaper-Fold-AMAZING-/221211350332?pt=Marbles&hash=item338139553c and yet another Jabo.
