  1. How did I miss this one?

I'm way behind.  Tired out by working in the heat.

    1.  Love it.  I don't know about "snake" either.  I don't worry about that name much.   Having a giant brilliant UV cork is plenty for me.

    2.  Good chance modern.  My money is on Jabo.

    3. My first thought was Pelt Rainbo.  Then I wondered about wonky Marble King. But I'll go with Pelt.

    4. I'm on board with Marble King.

    5.  Going with Pelt Rainbo here.

  2. I am sharing this directly from Don Miller's post on Facebook.  Ron is one of the first people I ever learned to turn to for help on the marble forums.

It is hard to write this but Sunday morning one of the old timer cat's eye collectors passed away. Ron Shaw was one of the early contributors to internet marbles pages and he loved the cats. I met him through those boards and first physically met him 20+ years ago in an Atlanta hotel where I was at on business. I remember he loved them so much I brought him a box of Master Glass cats to give him and show him some of my other marbles. That initial visit turned into several trips to his house and he taught me all about the Atlanta area where he had been a policeman for many years. He knew all the neatest areas and unique dining establishments. We also made several marble show trips, the best being a five day stay and tour in West Virginia . We had some wonderful entertaining conversations on those all night drives to remote destinations for us southern boys. We continued to maintain contact through the years , even after Ron lost some of his interest in his marble toys. In recent years Ron took up writing and even did an internet radio show focusing on artists and made friends (which he already had an abundance) all over the world. In the past he also sold for many years on Ebay and was an antiques dealer at Atlanta shows. He was definitely a unique person to have known. As a tribute I will post a few of his elaborate cat's eye collages. Rest in peace Ron. A picture of Ron and i on a marble dig site is below, Ron Shaw is on left.

  3. Transparent swirls often can't be pinned down to maker other than "one of the West Virginia companies or possibly Alox"  (Alox being made in Missouri.)

But  having one being 3/4" adds an interesting twist to it.  The larger a vintage swirl, the better chance it has of being made in WV  by Alley.

  4. The top two are West Virginia swirls, good chance Alley.  I'm leaning Alley on the bottom middle also.

I think modern Asian on the bottom left.   On the bottom right, I'm considering Marble King but would like to  see some different views featuring the two seams.

  5. Hi. :wave2:

Top middle is a West Virginia swirl.

Bottom left is a Vitro Whitie.    Bottom right might be an Akro, in which case it would be an Akro Royal.

I think Marble King on top right.

Top left .... that's a little tricky.  The fold in the glass that some people call a "buttcrack" might suggest that it's a newer marble, but I'm leaning older -- leaning Akro.  Akro's do that fold sometimes.

  6.

I would not be surprised if this one of yours turned out to be older ... like 1930's instead of 1990 ... but I'll dig out my Anacortes and try to get a close up of the ones I think you might be looking at.

  7.  Nice start!   Yellow cat's eye by the glowing Akros?  White cat's eye by some Vitro Conquerors?

I for sure had all-reds when I was little.  And pretty sure MK Rainbows.  I got a bunch of marbles in my stocking in 1976 -- that was age 14 -- clearies in a wide range of sizes.  I loved those.  Betting they came from Champion Bicentennial bag.

Then around 2004 I said I wanted some marbles and my husband got me some.  But they were new and my antique store owner/friend said they weren't the kind people really want and I felt so defensive I had to learn about what kind of marbles people really want ... and that's kinda how it started.

  8. 1.  I have seen that color combo several times and I can't remember getting a satisfactory answer about what it was.  I think maybe I saw it id-ed as Alley but for some reason I was uncomfortable with that.  Maybe someone will say Alley now ... and maybe they'll add an exclamation point or a "totally" or something and make me believe it.

    2. Ravenswood?

    3.  Felt "solid Pelt" on the last view (which I saw first), but then moved to "leaning Pelt" with the 2nd to last view.  More views could help.

    4.  Sweet Vitro Tri-Lite.  Not sure if it has another name.  Don't think it's a Superior.

    5. Leaning Vitro.
