Hi Jeroen: Firstly, before anyone can give you any idea of current market value, they would need to know the size of the marbles on each of the boards ( marbles on each board look to be about the same size ). Secondly, marbles also look to be in very good condition. I take it from your message that you are new to collecting. However, what is your opinion of condition. Also, are you looking for fair market value for each board, including the marbles that sit on them, and, are you looking for a separate value for the 2 pink solid cores, as well. I'm sure you understand that fair market value is whatever someone is willing to pay you for these items. I'm from Canada, however, the biggest single market for collectible marbles is in the United States, although the market has been somewhat depressed during the past 3 to 4 years because of the recession. High end marbles, however, have still been selling for good money. If you can send me the information above, I can give you a fairly good idea of what each board, including marbles, would bring on eBay and at auction ( specific auction house in the United States ). I can also give you a fairly good idea of what the pink solid cores would be worth to a collector based on size and condition. I am in the process of negotiating to buy a 1 1/2" Mint Pink Translucent Solid Core with Multi-Colored Clambroth Style Outer Decoration from a private Canadian collector. For what it's worth, I have a No. 125 Akro Box that looks exactly like Mike's. There are 2 differences, however. 1 is the color. My box is a light tan color and Mike's looks gray in the pictures. The second difference is my box doesn't have a bag. It contains 8 rows of 6 various types of Akro marbles, including popeyes, lemonades, limeades, cherryades, onyxes and 2 and 3 color corks. I was told these were gift boxes and the contents varied widely ???????. The box I have was purchased in a Danny Turner Auction in the 1990s.

Hi Winnie: I'm fairly new to The Marble Connection, but, I've been buying and selling marbles on eBay and at Marble Shows in Ohio and West Virginia for years. I'm from Canada and the area I live in has a lot of Dutch Immigrants. I find these Wire Pulls ( mostly the red variety ) and the Flame Patterns ( mostly white and purple ) in a lot of local collections that I have purchased. When I first came across these I didn't know exactly what they were. The Wire Pulls looked like they might be German and The Flame Patterns resembled, to some extent, the Christensen Agate 2 Colour Flame Swirl. I wasn't sure, so, I sent pictures to Alan Basinet in Florida and he was quick to let me know that they were both European ( not German ) and quite possibly from The Netherlands. I've never come across one that was less than 13/16" and the majority were 1" in diameter. I sold every one that I have ever come across on eBay. I don't remember what the Wire Pulls sold for, however, the 2 Colour Flame Patterns sold in the $125.00 to $150.00 range I've never found any 3 colour Flame Patterns here. Alan also sold a couple Flame Patterns that I remember and they brought a little more than mine did. Also, most of the ones I sold went back to The Netherlands. My guess, given the quantity found ( 34 ) and their uniform size, is that they were once displayed on a solitaire board. Really nice collection and a great find. Bob

This message/question is for richsantaclaus. A friend of mine owns a large, 2 3/8" diameter sulphide marble with a pocket watch inside. It has the original surface with single ground pontil. There is a fair bit of damage on the surface mostly consisting of clusters of shallow chips and flakes. There are also 2 large air pockets, one on each side of the pocket face dial and back cover. There are no cracks or fractures. Is is possible to fix this marble by cleaning up the surface and removing the air pockets ? and, if so, what are possible fallouts or things that could happen during restoration that would be to the marble's detriment. I've tried loading pictures, but, the system tells me that my files are too big and I don't know how to resize. I just had it listed on eBay and it didn't sell. The item number was 180781534712, so, if you go on eBay.com and enter this number, it will bring up this file and you will see 10 or 11 pictures from different angles.
