5/8ths. of an inch in size, repaired almost entirely by hand as I wanted to stay off the pontils. Didn't have much in the way of pontils to begin with as it has stood the test of time doing battles in sandy soil which diminished the pontils. Mean no dis-respect but guys like you and Hansel who have pockets so deep you haven't touched the bottom of them in years shouldn't be concerned about purchasing repaired marbles. Two nice large Swirls, both about 1-3/4 inch, lot of damage on both, good fixer upper's and keepers. Ronnie

A good friend of mine tried to repair this Two Lobe Onion Skin with a dremmel tool sandpaper and diamond paste. Eventually he gave up the effort and threw it in a jar with some other damaged better marbles. I bought it and repaired it. The damage I had to leave alone in some areas because they were "chased" with the dremmel tool leaving low spots and if I tried to get those low areas out it would have caused more harm than good. It's a real nice marble, a keeper. Ronnie

No it has not been ground, (3 stage fining, yes 3 stages) and then "POLISHED". The marble had the concussion damage on it's entirety. What happened was it had a substantial chip near the equator and I knew if I tried grinding out that chip it would have opened up the pontils big time. So I decided to hand work that large chip area. So you start at the perimeter of the chip and hand grind away from the chip (work outward 360 degrees) feathering the pressure (lighter pressure as you move away) ( the depth of the chip determines how far you move away from the epicenter) So what you're seeing in the photo is where the feathering stops. Doesn't matter though I still succeeded in screwing up the marble as I opened up the pontils (a small amount but still opened up) and to me that ruined the marble. Ronnie

Yeah OK, sorry I didn't recognize you, age thing I guess, but on the other hand you didn't recognize me either. (another age thing or aging thing). I've always thought of you and that story you told me about those people in New Lebanon that had that gold mine of Christensen material. I always wondered if you were able to make a deal with them? You know at that auction that represented about 1/4th of what Bob had and probably in the spring they will have a 2nd. auction then a 3rd and 4th.You got any marbles for sale? A lot of times you look at the surface of a marble and you see the obvious chips, scuffs, and other damage, but beneath the surface their may be a lot of unseen damage. This damage is usually not obvious to the naked eye when one is casually observing the marble. It is consussion damage. Damage that is transferred internally into the marble but did not do damage to the marbles exterior surface. I did a Sulphide once that only had a couple of small chips and scratches but the owner of the marble wanted the small chips removed along with the scratches. When the machine broke through the annealing hard highly polished surface it exposed hundreds and hundreds of concussion hits and all af them had left their perfect little ring damage internally in the marble. I got the marble from Scott Strasbarger. Are you saying that Scott does not know his marbles? And for your information, my wife is the person that named the marble a Cyclone and Brian Estep was there and said yeah thats good, it's a Cyclone or I like Cobra, so you can see who won out on that one. (as usual). Ronnie

Sorry but I don't think it is one

Finally thought of a way to fix the Cobra. Problem was it was a small marble to begin with and someone had put it in a rock tumbler causing it to be out of round and have a big flat spot on it. Well anyhow it turned out OK Ronnie

Yes it was Bob and Scott's Deer run auction.

Bought this out in the parking lot at an auction Saturday in Miamisburg Ohio. Also bought a Christensen Cyclone AKA Cobra but it has a flat spot on it and I haven't gotten up the nerve to attempt a repair on it. Showing the Swirl only to demonstrate how sweet the bubbles look in a large marble. Ronnie

Don't have any $1 repairs, haven't got that hard up yet. But to satisfy your curiosity. Heres one I got it in the mail at 10:45 today and returned it today about an hour ago. And yes it was a $10.00 repair. Ronnie

Cannot find the retainer ring for my press, so until I do I am cancelling this offer.

On a round machine made, a $2.00 repair will clean and brighten the marble's surface. It will remove oxidation and light scuffing. It will knock down the intensity of medium depth scratches and knock down the intensity of heavy scuffing. The $2 repair will not remove chips or flea bites. The $2 repair uses no dremmel tool with diamond paste which puts micro scratches and low spots on the glass surface. On a machine made, a $5 repair will remove small chips, deep scratches and if the marble is slightly out of round it will true it up. In the photo there is a medium depth chip that's been removed.
