  1. I uploaded more pictures of marbles to the Gallery, mostly sold by Marblealan. CACs, including Guineas, SO, ST, Flames, Swirls http://marbleconnection.com/gallery/album/289-christensen-agates-cacs-by-marblealan-mostly/ Akros http://marbleconnection.com/gallery/album/300-akro-agates-by-marblealan-mostly/ Germans http://marbleconnection.com/gallery/album/301-german-handmades-by-marblealan-mostly/
  2. Cheryl, Alan's ex-wife, said back in May, that not a single marble has been sold so far, and that she would let everyone know ON THIS BOARD and on Facebook, when they are put up for sale. So, whatever else anyone says, even if they say they have inside info and that all the CACs have already been sold, I'm not believing. http://marbleconnection.com/topic/17162-alan-basinets-private-marble-collection/page__hl__%2Bsingle+%2Bmarble+%2Bbeen+%2Bsold__fromsearch__1
  3. You're a little slow on the uptake, Stephanie! I might put some more CACs sold by Marblealan up there. And some German ones, if there's room. I gave you all those pics on a CD awhile back.
  4. Somebody really got taken here, and they left a negative. http://www.ebay.com/itm/HUGE-VINTAGE-Marble-LOT-2000-Lutz-Latticino-Onionskin-JCoats-Superman-Indian-/160896462992?nma=true&si=J00TboWiv8CPQiCtcHLgndYsPNE%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  5. Here's another one by the same seller. Not Akro, IMO, and maybe not even a corkscrew. http://www.ebay.com/itm/STUNNING-5-8-Dead-Mint-Indian-Blanket-Corkscrew-Marble-L-K-NR-/160910798668?pt=Marbles&hash=item257707ef4c
  6. I'm still waiting for a Herman's Hermits CD that I ordered from the UK back in 2004.
  7. Is there a street address to send $ to? I think PayPal might have a new way of sending money without them deducting fees from it, if you send it as a Personal Gift. Not sure about this, anybody know?
  8. Or could it be something newer, like maybe a Jabo? http://www.ebay.com/itm/STUNNING-Vintage-5-8-Dripping-Wet-Mint-5-Color-Peltier-Corkscrew-Marble-L-K-NR-/160905417855?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&nma=true&si=Glw%2FBf4mIXXItJ2ALrAlNLVxD5A%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
  9. I'm glad to hear it too. Was wondering about it. And I sure don't want to "start something" here, but I think the first thing Chris needs to do when he learns how to walk again, is marry your daughter!
  10. Just wondering why it didn't go for more. http://www.ebay.com/itm/MARBLES-5-8-PELTIER-NATIONAL-LINE-RAINBO-RED-ANGEL-MINT-/280986988120?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&nma=true&si=QMTGkldlWeuBJ5HfIrHH7maCH6c%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
  11. I bought my camera two years ago, used, for less than $275. It can be used fully automatic, if you want to do that, and it can give good results that way. Of course, you could get even better results using some manual settings. Follow Bob Block's practical advice when choosing a camera.
  12. I don't use flash when taking pictures of marbles, and when I do use flash for indoor photos, it doesn't usually wash things out. Read posts #15 thru #18 in the following thread. http://marbleconnect...__fromsearch__1 Posted 27 March 2012 - 05:27 PM thanks Steve, the base in blue is not white. flash washes it out. it has the same color base as all the blue angels I am seeing here actually. :-) in fact it looks like a twin to the one marblemiser posted. hey and thanks for the compliment miser! zaboo's auctions, and also ebay's zaboo2smarbles
  13. If you use flash, which can alter the colors and/or wash out the colors, then you may not need a self-timer or remote.
  14. A good tripod and a camera that can take sharp close-up pictures won't do you much good if the camera doesn't also have either a self-timer or a remote. I have no complaints about the photo-quality of my Canon Powershot SX-10 IS.
  15. True, but the chip doesn't look that bad to me, and looks like it could even be as-made. I would've bid on it, but I already have a big GR. And that cork does have the added white, which I missed at first.
  16. But I wouldn't pay anywhere near what this one went for: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MARBLES-5-8-AKRO-PURPLE-CHAMPAGNE-CORKSCREW-MINT-/271062995401?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&nma=true&si=pzn17taSGcCEXmsog29WZbo54%2Fo%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
  17. Don't you think? For a 3/4" NM+ 8.9 Golden Rebel with a great pattern? I know the black is a little skimpy but it looks like it has lots of AV. http://www.ebay.com/...cvip=true&rt=nc
  18. Most of the marble pictures look like they were lighted with a ceiling skylight. Only the top part of the marble is well-lighted (but is obscured by the huge reflection from the light), with all the rest of it almost looking backlit. That's no way to take marble pictures.
  19. They have some nice stuff but aren't they the ones who charge something like a 20% premium on everything you win? And do you have to pay a fee just to bid, even if you aren't the high bidder on anything?
  20. I always take all my shots with spot metering, and the exposure set so the highlight areas are slghtly underexposed, then painstakingly edit them in a graphics program so the shadow and midtone areas are correct, and adjust the white balance, if necessary. Lightening up a photo often changes the colors so they are not correct anymore, then that has to be adjusted too. It would be nice to have a program that does some of that for me.
  21. I'm definitely going to have to check that out. Did you take multiple exposures of that photo, and the Photomatix software fused them together? I read on their website about that. http://www.hdrsoft.com/
