I think the IDs became more established after the term corkscrew was introduced. That’s my take on it. Some will probably have more information about this topic. 🔥 -

They are all spirals. The name Corkscrew came later. If you asked a sales person back in the day for a corkscrew they’d ask where your bottle of wine is. 🦅 -
