Hard to tell for sure from the pics, but the middle picture looks like the chunky aventurine often found in cats eyes. If it really sparkles in the sun, then it likely is.

Staying on the old strip around freemont is awesome. Its still busy, but at least you can catch your breath. Theres buses, taxis, and other transportation to the strip all the time. If you have never been to Vegas be prepared. It has serious WOW factor. Check out the plaza in Ceasers Palace, the Pirate show at Treasure Island, the list goes on and on. (those are both free too) The light show outside is free on freemont street and there is always free entertainment out there. Its AWESOME! And the marbles aren't bad either.

It will all depend on work. I just picked up another drilling rig, so pretty busy. We always have to make plans at the last minute since I never know when days off are. Thats why we ended up in the Gold Nugget across the street last time. We ended up staying for 10 days..........then I puked. LOL

For those that have never been to the Vegas show, get there! It is so awesome. And if you get tired of marbles, step outside and get one of those 2 ft tall daquaris. You'll go back into the show in a whole new light. I had a blast, puked, met some great people, puked, scored some killers for my collection, walked over to Binions and puked again. Oh, and the light show on Freemont kicks ass too.

The black orange? Its actually a killer deal I snagged off of the bay. 5 mint cac's for 8 bucks. Dead mint and its a hair over 3/4 inch.

Let me know if you ever want to part with that green/oxish alley(?). Its fantastic!

So they did make striped opaques? Does bermar's diaper fold look like it might be one?

I will have to go back and look for Burt's mib, but the german striped opaques that I have seen are very bright and colorful. Also called "circus". Very nice and vibrant colors. And they can fetch a pretty penny. May do a search on Lizzy's board for them.

FWIW, the diaper fold term is not something I use personally.

The German banded opaques and banded transparents are handmade marbles. I have never heard that term used for machine made marbles. In the machine made world, it is "striped" opaques and "striped" transparents, not banded. Good grief...................

Well it's been awhile now and these will have to do for discussion sake.Two questions I'd like to ask,first does anyone have an idea of the percentage of diaperfold(single seam) to double seam opauqes made? Second question is does anyone have any idea how they were made? These opauqes are very plain and both are purple, is this signifigent? If anyone has single seam CAC to compare to these I would like to see them.I am going through slags now looking for diaperfolds and found one so far.The construction of all three marbles are the same ,single seam and the glass flows directly around the marble with some wavering.This is a great subject and I think much can be learned.bo

my S.O. used to be split 50/50 single seam to double seam. Its more like 60 double/ 40 single. I had this conversation with Galen once, and I think his fugures were pretty close. Minds well call it a tie. IMHO

I have one of those mettalic striped pee-wees. They are cool, I will see if I can dig up my shots of mine.

I think from the photos that I would call it a naked solid core. Sure looks fat.
