I understand the frustration with waiting well beyond your appointment time but especially in urgent and emergency care situations, the unpredictable often occurs. Someone has several serious issues that take much longer than the doctor anticipated, or a true emergency occurs requiring extensive time commitment. Having practiced medicine for 40+ years, it’s hard to predict what you will see that day. I tried to give everyone the time they NEEDED and unfortunately sometimes that means you get backed up. In the ER, you triage the sickest first, which means a trauma with a 3-person car accident supersedes a cold. Adding additional physicians adds additional overhead and the patient always ends up paying this, which increases everyone’s bills. I feel your pain but that’s the way medicine works, due to the unpredictable nature of illness.
