Super hard to tell how much clear is here with these photos. It seems like there's only a little bit which means it would be a least desirable Popeye by what most collectors view today, surely not hybrid. -
I agree. There's definitely some wackiness going on with that blob of glass as it hit the rollers but it doesn't look foreign.

My grandfather worked for a ball bearing company at the time that we were playing marbles and he brought home all sorts of steelies for us, including a real rough surface 1 in and a super smooth 1 in. Playing marbles with that 1-in Steelie, oh, man, it just went through the game marble circle like a bulldozer. We had to have an outlawed!!

It's hard to tell with the background what the actual color of the clear is. But if it has a green tint to it, you can surely know that those are Asian/Japanese.

Definitely looking like Japanese Cat's Eyes. The green tint glass is the tip off. -
It is a ball bearing but we still called them Steelies when I was a kid. We didn't have anything that was hollow.

I agree. It doesn't have any "cake" if you know what I mean. It's a very specific and cool glass.
