Doesn't Vacors have that 'Orange Peel skin' texture? I don't really see that on this Marble. The bubble structures and tint of the transparent glass are pretty cool! Tortured veins- It's a unique marble! Kind of envious myself.😃

Three stunners from the pile that I need help with. The 1st (left) was found in a bag of Cat's eyes and if it is an Akro moss Agate patch then I am Stoked! It has been beat up a little but I have admired the simple elegant beauty of this type ever since I saw the ones in the picture of the Akro salesman's sampler box. The second is very unusual- along with the 3rd. I hope to find out more about them. They have blue flame features but I don't have a clue as to what they are or who made them. Thanks for any advice and Identification.

Hey folks, I have three contenders for Akro I.D. They seem to all be cork screws; but would the 1st be a Prizename? The Shooter has me scratching my head, and the 3rd---Buttermilk cork? Verification would be very helpful. Thank you--

I know it's 'appealing' to find out what constitutes a 'Banana'...aside from the mushy part. But I have some Vacor 3-color/3 vein shooters that I am curious about. The others are also in question--Peltier maybe? Any advice would be great. Gotta 'split'! I think I've contracted 'Yellow fever'. Thanks a 'bunch'...(I know---there is a place in hell with my name on it.)

Dear Mr. Chad,
  I have a quick question that I hope you might answer. I purchased a couple of bags of Cat's eyes at a garage sale. I got them home and started examining them but they were ' sticky' (eew). (I think that I found an Akro classic moss agate that I will post later! Yay!) I soaked them in warm water and dish soap for a few minutes. After rinsing, they still felt sticky so I soaked them in rubbing alcohol for a few more minutes. They felt better after drying, but some of the marbles still had grime lodged in some of the dents, dings, and scuffs. I took a toothbrush to them but some of the grime/dirt seems pretty stubborn. Any advice on how to dislodge those tiny bits without harming the surface, or dulling the shine? Any advice would be helpful. I figure that your advice would help clean the surface of any marble in our collections without resorting to grind/polishing. Unless absolutely necessary, I'd rather not go that far to help a marble look its best. Thank you and best wishes---R

Warm non abrasive soapy water a good soaking, and a stiff brush always did the job for me. A few had some stubborn rust stains that I removed w/ steel wool but that's about as far as I've ever gone cleaning wise.Â

Here is a pic that has been seen in this forum before. I got it off of google images. I also love Akro agates. Look and compare. Moss agates are on the right. You have a classic beauty! Hold onto it.

LOL! Since I did not know what they were, I used a bit of poetic license...(giggle)... The tiny bubbles, the cobalt dark blue, and the gradation to a soft yellow made me think of Van Gogh's "Starry Night" painting. I am glad that we cleared up what they were. It kind of looks like a teeny tiny diorama of starry heavens. Best wishes

Thanks for the input. That is kind of you. Pix #1 and # 9 show that central axis pole. Comparing it to the classic pictures that I have seen, the center of my marble is not clear like it would be with snakes. Maybe it could be a hybrid? If you wish, I can add a few more pics of it to examine. I would like your analysis.

I haven't a clue. The middle one reminds me of peaches though...I thought the one on the right might be a snake but it seems to have a central spiral axis/pole. The one on the left has some weird line swirls that I think are pretty cool. Any help would be great.
