  1. Greetings everyone, does any of you know what happened to eBay seller Uncmikie (Paul Germann)? I bought a cased blizzard mica marble from him on eBay last month, and when I got it, it measured only 13/16" instead of 1-1/32" as the seller claimed in his descpription. Uncmikie admitted this mistake and promised me a partial refund, and then I heard nothing anymore and he didn't reply to any of my messages. He even didn't respond to the eBay case and claim I opened. I've always have had very positive experiences with Uncmikie, so I have a feeling there is something going on...does any of you has any information? Thanks!
  2. I think there is a small change they might be authentic, but the colors seem a little strange (too bright for this type of marble). I would need to see the pontils to be sure. The pontils on these types of marbles are always highly facetted. I have several butterflies and large opaques and they all have facetted pontils.
  3. Here's a nice marble story: http://www.marblesgalore.com/ The story about the huge green mist Lutz marble is really nice!
  4. Here's one of my fave handmade marbles, a large 1-3/8" beachball indian lutz!
  5. A gigantic 2-1/8" mist Lutz marble with an emerald green base! What a marble! I have never seen such a large antique marble with so much Lutz. From the collection of friend of mine (an European marble fanatic) who wants to remain anonymous. Enjoy! here's the link:
  6. Hi Cees, yes I know your marble ofcourse! I've got a photo of it. I found this marble in England about 5 years ago.
  7. Thanks! I wouldn't call it a JC, because it has a white base layer with the colors on top of that layer.. JC's never have a base layer, just colored strands closely together.
  8. I was just going through my collection and taking some pics of nice marbles. Including this brightly colored onionskin. It's quite large (1-5/8" in size) and in mint cond. It has a white base and on that bright fleck and stripes of yellow, orange, red, green and blue. Is this a so called 'clown' onionskin?
  9. This might be strange to most of you, but I actually prefer a marble that is not mint...I really want to see it has been used what it was made for (not completely damaged ofcourse, but a few chips, moons and scratches). Being an archaeologist I just love to see the wear that an object accumulated over the many years...for example, I like a medieval suit of armor where you can see the hits of swords and scars of battle more than armor that has stood there in the corner of a castle. And the same goes for marbles IMO.
  10. The best European flea markets are in Belgium! The one in Brugues during the 'Zandfeesten' in the summer is amazing. It's miles and miles long and starts at 4 A.M.!
  11. Great article! You're a genius at repairing marbles. Do you have a website with prices of your work?
  12. You wouldn't believe the marbles I found at flea markets here in Holland!
  13. Hi Lloyd. It's one of the highlights of my collection, and it will get a special place in my display case! Do you remember which collector send you some pics of my display? It's great to hear that people spread my pics, so more people can enjoy my collection!
  14. I found this amazing handmade marble at a flea market yesterday. It was in a tin of old marbles together with some china's, benningtons and swirls. I have seen submarines with mica cores before, but not with 4 layers! The marble is large (1-5/8" in size) and has a black solid core in the centre. Floating above that core are 2 onionskin ribbons (one pink on yellow and one pink on white), above these ribbons is a floating layer of blizzard mica, and the 4th layer is 2 floating onionskin panels (pink on white and bluish green on white). It has no chips but a lot of tiny sratches on the surface so I put some baby-lotion on it so it shines really nice for the pics. Has anyone of you ever seen such a marble before?
  15. I've bought many marbles from Paul Germann and I've always been very satisfied. Good communication, fast shipping and the marbles were described very well. One of the better marble sellers on eBay.
  16. Can someone maybe post some pics of the show? I especially would love to see the antique handmades that were for sale. I heard there were some really good ones! Thanks!!!
  17. That's amazing! Really well done!
  18. It looks better than the modern fakes from Germany, but it still doesn't look right. The originals are painted so much better with much tighter and straight lines.
  19. OK! here's a really rare sulphide, a highly detailed bird figure in cobalt blue glass.
  20. And here's a pic of 2 large ones (just over 1-1/2"). Both a horizontal design on a white translucent base and highly facetted pontils.
  21. I have a few of them. Here's a nice eggyolk one with a very fine facetted pontil, I'll take some pics of my others soon. I also have a few big ones sized 1-1/2".
  22. Here's another really rare one, a large 1-5/8" Uranium based glass marble with a brightly colored band on it. A pic without and with blacklight (Uranium glass glows brightly green under a blacklight).
  23. It's a cane cut marble, so there must be more of them out there (if any others 'survived' ofcourse'!).
  24. I thought this might be fun...post a pic of the rarest marble (handmade or machine) in your collection, those unique marbles you only find once in a lifetime. Here's mine, a LARGE 1-3/8" beachball Indian Lutz. I've never seen one like it. I'm looking forward to seeing all your RARE beauties!
