  1. That's amazing!!! I repair marbles myself by handpolishing them with diamond pads, but I've never seen something like you did before! That sulphide looks beyond rescue and you made it into a lovely marble again. You even moved the figure!!! I'd love to see some more examples of your work, especially the antique swirls you repaired.
  2. IMO the 'paperweight' marble also looks doubtful...what are your opinions?
  3. Another FAKE! I'm really surprised people still fall for it and pay huge amounts of money. If you study the genuine antique scenic china's, you'll notice they are painted so much better! And never a scene from China!
  4. Hi Mike, sorry I have no idea what the auction number is...I found the pic on www.buymarbles.com, they have pics of several RR auction cards, but no extra info.
  5. Thanks Bill! aaah, so there's more than one of these beauties out there! Maybe someone else knows where the marble Bill is talking about is? I'd love to see pics of that one!
  6. No, I didn't do anything to the photo. It's clearly a single pontil mist Lutz. The only one I've ever seen. Can you maybe post scans of your RR postcards here? I'm sure a lot of people want to see them!
  7. Hello everyone! I'm looking for more info and pics on a marble sold through a Running Rabbit auction years ago. It's a large single pontil mist Lutz. Here's the only pic I could find of this marble, it's a group photo of the best marbles from that RR auction. I hope someone can help me out.
  8. Hi Bernie, I've got one! I've just send you an e-mail.
  9. That scenic china marble is without a doubt FAKE!!!! A modern reproduction. I live close to Germany (in Holland) and I was told by several German antique dealers/ marble colletors that there's an old guy in Lauscha who digs up old plain china marbles and paints them like the old scenic chinas. He's getting a little better his first few efforts were terrible.
  10. Fantastic! That picture of the boy with his marbles is priceless! I wonder where those marbles are now...thanks for sharing!
  11. I was watching some very nice marbles offered by MA in my eBay, and suddenly they disappeared from my watchlist hours before the auction should have ended...when I look up the marbles it says the auction has ended and all bids are removed. When I click on the bid history I get this message: 'Sorry, the item 350284616549 does not appear to be a valid number on eBay.com. Please go back and try again' Did eBay end his auctions??? what happened???
  12. Greetings everyone, what's still missing from my collection is a large green mist Lutz marble (size 1-1/4" and over). Because I can't afford a mint example, I'm looking for one in damaged (good- / collectible condition / repaired). Does anyone of you have one for trade or sale? This is the type I'm looking for:
  13. Blue based sulphide with bird figure, 1-1/2" in size.
  14. Not very pretty? Are you kidding? Those marbles are amazingly beautiful! Great workmanship, colors and design.
  15. I'll take some pics later this week, the bottom pontil is ground with no facetting, similar to other Indian lutzes, judging by the opaque red and baby blue it's a marble from around 1900-1905.
  16. The largest Indian Lutz I've ever seen, 1-5/16"!!! Unfortunately not mint, but what a marble!!! Has anyone seen something like this before?
  17. Hello everyone, I'm looking for a marble collector called Mike Harrod. He has 2 very rare marbles pictured in 'Antique Glass-Swirl Marbles', Stanley block, page 68. I would like some more info on these mibs. Does anyone have his e-mail address? Thanks!
  18. It's a Chinese 'sulphide', made around 1920. Sometimes they even combined colored dots of glass together with painted figures.
  19. Made in China, around 1920, these are not German handmades!
  20. Rew/white/blue handmades! very large peppermint and 2 color clam!
