  1. Wow! very nice swirl! great craftmanship.
  2. Here's a pic of a antique latt core with (deliberate) Lutz bands: And I'm really sure Aventurine was used on purpose in German handmades, I've seen 2 aventurine solid core swirls (so beautiful) and a lot of Joseph's coats with a lot of Aventurine.
  3. An European marble collector just made a new marble website with really awesome pics. Most of it is in German, some in English. Here's a link: http://www.glasmurmeln.com/
  4. The Roman marble had 77 watchers according to watcheditem.com so I was expecting a LOT of action in the last few seconds...but nothing happened! Weird!!!
  5. No, certainly not. The finishing on the pontil is similar to other banded lutzes. It has several chips/playwear however.
  6. I just got to show you the lastes addition to my collection, a very large 1-3/16" white based opaque banded Lutz. It's the largest of this type I've ever seen. I've seen several large black based opaque banded lutzes, but never a white one. Does any of you know of other large ones? Here's a pic!
  7. So far, I've seen 3 cased colored sulphides, the one from Elliot, the one in Marble Mania and mine. I'd love to see more of them!
  8. In the latest edition of Marble Mania is also a cased sulphide, this one with a human figure. wow, what a marble!
  9. I'd love to see a pic of such a Scott Patrick marble. Does any of you has one?
  10. This marble is 100% sure antique. It came out of a 60 year old bear collection. It has a highly facetted pontil and glows under a blacklight.
  11. I recently found this amazing antique marble, a cased colored sulphide containing a bear holding a ball! The bear is surrounded by amber glass and then cased in a clear layer. I've only found one similar marble in the Antique Glass-sulphide marbles book (I took a pic next to mine). The size is 1-5/8" and it's in mint- cond. Do any of you know of other cased colored based sulphides? I'm looking forward to hearing your reactions.
  12. You were a true Marble King during your lifetime, now you will become a Marble Legend! Rest in Peace, my friend. You will never be forgotten.
  13. You're welcome, Bill. This is also the first swirl of this type I've ever seen.
  14. Thanks for your reaction! the size is 3/4". The damage looks a lot worse on the pics than it actually is.
  15. Hello everyone, I got this really awesome swirl today. A latticino swirl with 4 lutz bands as outer decoration! The colored lines around the lutz bands are exactly the same color as on banded lutzes, so probably by the same maker. It has a lot of scratches and tiny pinpricks but what a rarity! I'm looking forward to hearing your reactions. Does any of you also has a swirl with Lutz bands?
  16. Hi Hansel, amazing sulphide, and certainly antique. I've seen this figure in a German collection before, but it's VERY rare. Jeroen
  17. Friends of mine had an antique sulphide that was so damaged and cracked that the figure fell out! Here's a pic. It's a rearing horse. The interesting part is that it is tiny! only 1/2"! The glass around the figure works as a magnifier so the figure appears a lot larger. It must have been quite difficult to make such small figures, especially if they are detailed.
  18. There's a video on youtube with a collection of very nice Lutz marbles, here's a link:
  19. Wooooow! 2 of the finest solitaire boards I've ever seen. Those pink solid cores are amazing!
  20. Yes, Paul told me he's selling most of his collection at Morphy's. Some truly amazing marbles are coming up for auction!
