skycollect
Hello I bought what I think is an akro thumb pot it is about an 1 1/2 tall and 1 1/8 inch wide (measurements done with my eye) I will add a pic later. It is white with blue swirls. I was curious as to how hard they are to find and maybe a ballpark value. Thanks!
duffy
i dont think that size is the thumbpot...the thumbpot fits on your thumb......they are a little more harder to find....the one you described could be worth 10$ or so depending on color.... zaboo
I believe the thimb pots are 1 1/4 tall. sorta hard to find. the green ones marked brown and corwin seem to be the most common. the oxblood ones are really tough to find.(I'll go measure later) ~D
FISHSLAYERMARRBLEGRIFF
Thumb pots are 1&1/4 high. The one that are marked,"braun & corwin",were made by Alley, not akro.
zaboo
that's interesting... how did you find that out? and did they get the mold from akro or did akro get the alley mold? as my oxblood thumb pots, like the ones shown in the akro book, are identical molds. FISHSLAYERMARRBLEGRIFF
The dimensions on the Brawn and Corwin, are slightly differant than the akro thumb pots. They have the same height, but the diameter at the bottom,is slightly larger,on the B&C pots.Alley pots have a differant texture too them.I want to describe it as being a "chunky" type of glass. Its usualy a little more visable on the alley childs dishes. Dug examples found at Alley,in Pennsborough.I think Ron S has the first hand info on the dug pieces. Griff

FISHSLAYERMARRBLEGRIFF
Welcome,,,,, On the issue of rarity, and current value(that I totaly missed-LOL),they are getting tougher to find, and run around $25 and up.My opinion is based on,hands on,and not fee-bay.(Havent had much ebay time in the last 3 months.) Scoop
Griff taught me a cool thing about thumb pots that may be handy here, too... If the bottom hole is broken out, the value / desirability seems to be less.
