Marbleized
My eyes are swirling from looking at too many marbles. So, here is my last bunch of swirls that I'd like to ask about before I take a break from my identifying frenzy. These all have a base that have an antique bone white opaque base. The first has a more tan base and a brown swirl that looks more opaque than translucent. It is .61". The second two have translucent swirls. The middle marble is .66" and the last marble is .57". I'm thinking Alley. Thank you!
wvrons
All Alley. You did it. Some WV swirls can be identified. Some WV swirls cannot be separated.
Marbleized
Hurray! What a way to finish my marble id task! Thanks WVrons. BTW, I may have finally figured something out. The “WV” in your user name stands for “West Virginia” as in WV swirls, right? I may be a little slow to notice things, but my marbles eventually make the connection! Thank you for always being there to help!
wvrons
Quote Correct WV is for West Virginia. I have lived in WV all my life. In the part of WV where more machine made marbles were produced than any other place in the US. I have dug marbles at every marble factory site except one in WV, plus other states. I got to know and was friends with some of the past company owners, plant managers and several different company employees. Got deep into research of each WV marble companies history, along with their marbles. I went to high school in Ravenswood WV. I remember when marbles were made in Ravenswood. Not just swirls but all WV and other marbles. I also collect antique handmade marbles. I have helped with information in eight or more marble books the last 15 years. Marbles have many different rewards for many years.
Marbleized
That explains why you know so much! And, you know a lot about the tough ones (those darn swirls)! Digging for marbles must have been really interesting. You should write an autobiography. 👍
