craig
Hello, I have my dad's marble collection. I'm told the Bennington clay marbles are 150 years old, but my dad was born in 1927 so I suspect most are from the 1930's. I collect a lot of things, but not marbles, so I only know what a couple of collectors told me a few months ago. They said "shoe box" collections this nice don't come along very often. I have to say many of them are very pretty and I can certainly understand their collectability. There is an Akro Agates #250 box set that I need help with. The marbles were mixed up and I'm trying to put the correct marbles back in the box. Does anyone have a photo of what set #250 originally had in it? Photo shows my best guess with help from the guys I met, but I have over 400 marbles. Is it within forum rules for me to post a link to my website where the collection is pictured? It is for sale, but I don't want to violate any rules. [update] Thanks for the "go ahead." Steph
In general we have no issues with posting to other websites. Go for it. Benningtons were made in the 1800's and into the early 1900s. Imported to the U.S. from Germany.
craig
Updated the first post with the URL to the photos of the collection. Anyone is welcome to make an offer. I'm willing to leave some meat on the bone for someone who wants to keep some and resell the rest, but I have received some advice about what the collection is worth. That said, I think the insert boxes are usually centered on the sides with a row of shooters above them and another row of marbles below. Sorry I can't help more.\
