jameswymer
What makes a marble a NLR instead of just a Rainbo? That confuses me.
Carowill
NLR marbles preceded Rainbos and were made from the late 20’s through the late 30’s. They usually have 4-6 colored ribbons and 2 seams (Miller, it’s predecessor have 1 seam). The base is usually opaque and the ribbons are just on or below the surface. Rainbos date from the late 30’s and have less brilliant glass. They also have 2 seams with an opaque or transparent base. Ribbons usually are 1-2 near the center of the marble. Rainbo ribbons tend to go into the marble towards the core.
