jhomer2172
This one measures 11/16” and appears chocolate brown and opaque with a few white streaks that seem to be on the surface. But back lit it is a dark transparent red! Ya got me, what do you think? thanks Jon
Ric
I think it's an Akro and that lots of these came out of the digs. Don't let anyone convince you it's something called "chocolate oxblood".
Ric
Pretty sure I've seen these referred to as "Cornelian Bricks" too, not sure I agree with it but . . .
jhomer2172
Yes, I know it’s not a chocolate oxblood, and wasn’t the Brick originally named the American Cornelian? And it’s not oxblood at all, it’s transparent. Anybody have any examples with a similar brownish looking base that is really red? thanks! jon
Ric
"American Cornelian" was MFCs name for their Oxblood Bricks, I think. Here are a couple of HG Akros that are more like yours. I think the one on the left is closest to a Cornelian Brick and some people refer to the right one as a Mulberry Brick, I think Cornelian Brick, Mulberry Brick, etc. were digger's names for marbles that looked a lot like oxblood but weren't.
