ScottH
5/8”. Pretty sure it’s an Alley. Wondering where it may have been built if so. Sorry about the rust still on it. Thanks!
Steph
A. I would have been torn between Champion and Alley. B. Good question! Would quality control have let that through? I don't know the answer. But quality control was pretty good back then. I know it's just a toy, but it's a toy that the kids needed to think was good for their marble games. So hmmm?

Quality control is only as good as the persons in charge of it--maybe a "Friday Marble"🙃. Marble--On!! 1
ScottH
Ok so could be either an Alley or a Champ. More on the Champion side is possible I gather. Are you saying that they should have scrapped it for some reason? Anyway thanks.
Steph
Alley stopped making marbles in the 1940's. Champion kept making marbles into the modern era. My belief is that it was easier for errors to get past quality control in the modern era. Fewer kids playing marbles. Less important to get them all round. 1

Champion made many keepers---to suggest a scrap would not be in my vocabulary. This is just a very nice looking marble imho. Marble—On!!
ScottH
Yeah I think it’s pretty keen. Definitely in the top of my small Champ collection now. Thanks Steph and Art. I get what you mean about Alley probably wouldn’t have sent it, hence the Champion lean.

Champion made some of the "keenest" "mettalics" made, nice bright almost chrome. I used to say "keen" too but "cool" took over.
