Some common Marble King Patch mibs glow and some do not

Recommended Posts

I have a bunch of Marble King 5/8 in players and none glow under UV. They are mostly white base Patch and Ribbon. I don't know why, but some of my shooters do. Now this one may not be a Patch and Ribbon of course but I am pretty sure it is a Marble King Patch.

I have others that look just like it and do glow and others that do not. Without the UV light, it would be hard to tell.

Just an observation.

I love a good UV glow.
I tried for years to finish a row of ten in a 100-count box of Akro "Prizenames", they were just basic yellow and--not quite white. (these are quite hard to find actually)
You will be amazed at all the different glass that Akro used and included in these simple-looking marbles.
UV light spoke to me then and helped to get a good row that is consistent. It took some time but this is collecting-nuff said.
Backlighting and UV light are valuable tools to include in your arsenal—also a good bright pen light light and someway to see closer—I use magnified spectacles—just because.

These bigger ones never act like the smaller ones and visa versa--the tiny ones have a mind of their own as well.
Marble—On!!

I just read that some marble companies use recycled glass so is it possible that MK used glass that had uranium in it and that's why we see it in some of the marbles regardless of the size and the date of manufacture? I also have a few fluorescent cat's eyes that are MK.

Almost all the marble companies used glass cullet that they purchased from a variety of glass manufacturers including some that used this type.
There is no doubt some marbles have glass from a maker that used this type including the window makers, the jar makers and the ponds cold cream makers-along with the many others.
Marble—On!!
