How do you ID an End of Day Hand Made ?

Recommended Posts

I can understand seeing it being an End of Day if the core and surface ribbons are absent at one end of the marble. Wouldn't there be just one pontil? Is there another trait I'm missing? I've seen several listed over time that have 2 pontils. That doesn't make sense to me. Can anyone shed some light on this for me. I'm trying to figure out if I have any🔥

Missing one pontil is end of cane,  EOD is interpreted by people in different ways and is a confusing definition IMO. My understanding is running out of any certain color that is being stretched over the surface of the marble or cane from pole to pole and having that color run out before the other end of the marble. Here's Stanley Blocks book on the subject, you can see several different examples of them on the cover of the book. Click on the link and enlarge the picture I guess ??  Or get the book

This example was always my interpretation of EOD :
