2 Pelt 'Pandas'?

Recommended Posts

They are both 39/64 (.60) inch with no UV. In the one on the left, what appears to be black glass in hand is actually green transparent when backlit (see pic). But the 2 poles are a not quite opaque black. So it appears to be black and white on a transparent green base. The one on the right is actually a clear base with purple tinges in it when backlit. (See the last 2 pics.)

Definitely a sweet mib! So just for my own reference, That one is a blue panda, and a plain panda is a black base? And what beyond the color makes them both pandas? I get confused when the animals change colors- there are blue pandas, red zebras, etc. What other than the color puts them in the same family? (That may be a bigger question than can be answered here. But it confuses me.)

Panda ::  Black base W White ribbons

Zebra :: White base W Black ribbons

Blue Panda :: Translucent Blue base W white ribbons

Red Zebra ::  White base W red ribbons

Zebras can come W or w/o aventurine, the ones W av are more common.

Thanks , Chad! So this may be a silly question and show my ignorance, but why is a translucent green base with white ribbons not a Green Panda? In hand it looks Black and white- it's not until you back light it that you see it's actually green.

Never seen a green translucent base ?? Couldn't tell ya. They made these things by the millions as cheap kids toys, almost anything is possible, never heard of a green panda or zebra though ??

Maybe I'm using the wrong term or describing it the wrong way. When you look at this marble in the sunlight or even under a bright flashlight, it looks to be an opaque black and white. But when you back light it, the black glass is actually green, as seen in the 3rd from last pic in my OP. So maybe that is a translucent Black glass? Is that correct?

Thanks for the help in getting my terminology correct.
