  7. i started a post on pete's site about debris in marbles and showed my cat with a bead in it. it was quite popular with others telling what they have found lurking in their marbles. well today while going through some cat's i found this one with a gold band of some kind wrapped around the vane. just thought you might like to see it. thanks, jack
  8. thanks anway alan, i appreciate you looking....jack
  9. got a few more pix of it. no history with it, the person got it from someone else. maybe you could just give me a guess and no i won't hold you to anything you say o.k.? thanks, jack
  10. i got this big bruser in a marble trade. it's 6'" and weighs a ton. i have a chance to trade up in value for some more marbles but i need a ballpark value on this paperweight. please shoot me some value guesses. thanks, jack
  11. thanks very much steph for answering my question.....jack
  12. i have been wanting to ask this question for some time now, so here goes. how and when did the phrase "shooter size" marbles begin? i played a lot of marbles in my younger days and was quite good, but no way did i ever use a 1" marble as my shooter. back then (prehistoric) the good players used agates 5/8" or a tad larger because they would stick after knocking out a marble and stay in place for the next shot. well, after reading this it sounds like a question some dumb old fool would ask, but what the heck. thanks jack
  13. that is without a doubt the coolest thing i have ever seen. 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 give or take a marble
  14. well, after searching through hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of my marbles i think i finally found one. it really sparkles in the sun but i sure would like to get a positive input. thanks, jack...almost forgot, it 21/32"
  15. nice site but i didn't see a lot that looked like mine. i can see right now, it will be easier to just collect marbles lol. thanks, jack
  16. thanks zaboo..paperweight was the term i was looking for but could not remember it...jack
  17. yesterday i traded a few things for this 6" sphere which weighs a ton. unfortunally it has a 2" flat bottom. would have been a cool marble but i still enjoy just sitting down and looking inside....jack
  18. thanks duffy, never even thought about getting a book. i'll start looking for one today....jack
  19. maybe someone could give me some advice. i am now trying to collect vitro's and get away from cat's for a while. just about every marble i post as vitro's end up something else. i had heard that all vitro's have some kind of a styl'ize V on the marble and maybe by looking at a few pics of mine you could let me know if i am on the right track.the top marble is pretty obvious but the rest ???. thanks, jack
  20. are these 5/8" vitros on the higher end compared to common vitros? thanks, jack
  21. i had this 7/16" peewee cross-thru on once before. it is without a doubt my best marble...jack
