  1. If ebay would pay me i would play ebay police all day but there are so many evil sellers and so little time. but stuff like this makes me laugh.
  2. If you have seen "The Christmas Story", the one with Ralphie. Replace his desire for the BB gun with Jabo marbles. Poor kid all he wanted was marbles but everyone just said that "They'll put your eye out." Christmas morning he is down due to finding no marbles. His father finally says there is a package behing the desk. Ralphie opens it and to his surprise it is a box of Tribute Run Jabo marbles. Then bang, pow, boom........Ralphie is blinded form the marbles.........not the soap. As you can see I am bored and reaching out for attention. As Chris Crocker said "Leave Jabo alone!"
  3. Found on the internet....... A Thousand Marbles Here's something that someone sent to me. One of the better e-mail forward thingies. The older I get, the more I enjoy Saturday mornings. Perhaps it's the quiet solitude that comes with being the first to rise, or maybe it's the unbounded joy of not having to be at work. Either way, the first few hours of a Saturday morning are most enjoyable. A few weeks ago, I was shuffling toward the basement ham-shack with a steaming cup of coffee in one hand and the morning paper in the other. What began as a typical Saturday morning turned into one of those lessons that life seems to hand you from time to time. Let me tell you about it. I turned the dial up into the phone portion of the band on my ham radio in order to listen to a Saturday morning swap net. Along the way, I came across an older sounding chap, with a tremendous signal and a golden voice. You know the kind; he sounded like he should be in the broadcasting business. He was telling whomever he was talking with something about "a thousand marbles." I was intrigued and stopped to listen to what he had to say. "Well, Tom, it sure sounds like you're busy with your job. I'm sure they pay you well but it's a shame you have to be away from home and your family so much. Hard to believe a young fellow should have to work sixty or seventy hours a week to make ends meet. Too bad you missed your daughter's dance recital" he continued. "Let me tell you something that has helped me keep a good perspective on my own priorities." And that's when he began to explain his theory of a "thousand marbles." "You see, I sat down one day and did a little arithmetic. The average person lives about seventy-five years. I know, some live more and some live less, but on average, folks live about seventy-five years. "Now then, I multiplied 75 times 52 and I came up with 3900, which is the number of Saturdays that the average person has in their entire lifetime. Now, stick with me, Tom, I'm getting to the important part. It took me until I was fifty-five years old to think about all this in any detail", he went on, "and by that time I had lived through over twenty-eight hundred Saturdays." "I got to thinking that if I lived to be seventy-five, I only had about a thousand of them left to enjoy. So I went to a toy store and bought every single marble they had. I ended up having to visit three toy stores to round up 1000 marbles. I took them home and put them inside a large, clear plastic container right here in the shack next to my gear." "Every Saturday since then, I have taken one marble out and thrown it away. I found that by watching the marbles diminish, I focused more on the really important things in life. There is nothing like watching your time here on this earth run out to help get your priorities straight. "Now let me tell you one last thing before I sign-off with you and take my lovely wife out for breakfast. This morning, I took the very last marble out of the container. I figure that if I make it until next Saturday then I have been given a little extra time. And the one thing we can all use is a little more time." "It was nice to meet you Tom, I hope you spend more time with your family, and I hope to meet you again here on the band. This is a 75 Year old Man, K9NZQ, clear and going QRT, good morning!" If I knew where this guy lived I would be escavating this evening! BTW.....Watch out for exploding Jabos!
  4. could this be what he says it is and out of round due to the reasons given? I dunno
  5. i know little of glass but am defending the people and the cause. you make it sound like alot of ignorant people or thieves make the marbles.
  6. i have to agree with the statement that the people involved did a great job of keeping the marble making dream alive, making really nice looking marbles, and overall just having a couple great days. instead of whining maybe just keep quiet. it's ok to talk about glass and how it cooperates with other glass but calling out the people on the run and maybe even accusing them of making poor quality stuff was wrong. i can assure you they did their best. alot of minds were there and maybe something got missed i dont know but i can say that if i had some of those marbles and they busted well i would just have busted marbles. i know alot of work went into them and well maybe oldmarblenut should go back to lurking on the board instead of posting.
  7. actually i tried to spell it like they did but could not remember exactly. but if i did try to spell it right i would have had to look it up as well. here are some links: Chamelian BLUE SWIRL CHRISTENSEN AKRO PATCH EGG YOLK TRI COLOR PELTIER RAINBO TRI COLOR
  8. I am so sick of the lying or stupid (not knowledgeable) marble sellers on ebay. i look for stuff and have to weed through all of the crap to find the good stuff i cant afford. LOL. i snapped last night and sent a guy a message about his auctions where he had all of his stuff ided as high dollar stuff when it was just low dollar junk. i kinda laid into him passively then aggressively. he answered back with a story. well guess what i dont care. if you are blind and need your seeing eyedog to help id marbles then how come he ids them akro oxblood, akro chamilion (?) , or other high dollar stuff every time when what you have is what i threw down at the flea market to get to the good stuff. either you are a liar or your seeing eyedog is stupid (i didnt say this to him just blowing off steam). and then he said some ids he got from closely matching the mib in hand to a book. i told him the mibs he had would not be in any book labled anything closely to what he was hoping. he said he would fix the auctions but didnt and they continue to be bought by buyers with very low feedback number so probably newbies who though they just bought the uber rare akro chamilion. maybe i am bittered by the hand life has delt me LOLOLOLOL but i am just sick of it. and we all know ebay wont say anything because at the beginning of every one of the auctions they always say "i have no marble knowledge at all nor do i try to act like i do...............................but i have a rare hard to find akro pelt master alley ravenswood mfc cac ringer popeye snake auger rainbow sparkler sunburst swirl patch oxblood brick slag." oooohhhhhhh........i feel better.
  9. This seller could not id a marble to save his lfe!
  10. btw...........I like "everything but the..." ice cream flavor. has just about everything in it.
  11. Griff you can take that attitude and stuff it.......LOL. just kidding. i think once the weather warms up the posts will come back. but hopefully not the idiotic trouble makers. was that harsh? :Sad_headshake_tweetz: by the way we have a newcomer that posts id help every day in the id section. it's busy over there. I hope I get to hang with you guys again at a marble run. would like to be a bigger part of it. not just a visitor next time. no more diggin' there though because i am apparently too lazy to clean all of what i found last time. the 5/8 marbles are really nice. the shooters have alot of cold rolls so only some of those are keepers but the colors on the 5/8 are just killer.
  12. master made site? they let you in the plant grounds? or do you mean the master glass site. either way......did you find anything? and can we see?
  13. does anyone think that the purple one is not jabo. if there are any ideas let me know.
  14. I still have about 2 gallos to clean and sort. Just been too busy. Will get it done by the weekend and maybe get some pics up then.
  15. I believe it is. Someone pointed out a dumpster to me that had some in it. Got a few before I felt I had enough.
  16. well now i have a reason to go to vienna. thanks a bunch.
  17. thanks....the purple one has those darn cut lines like an mk. but i guess it is jabo unless smarter people tell me other wise. :Computers_comp18:
  18. they are jabos that i picked up during the visit to the run. have many more that i will put up once i get around to it.
  19. still gallons to go through. then separate keepers from junk.
  20. Well you seemed busy so I wandered off on my own. BTW nice marbles and colors. I found a purple on that goes light to dark with skinny strands and I believe it has seems like that. I would have to check.
