Before the scoria it was a "fair weather" road,,,,if the weather wasn't fair it was NOT easily driven on!!!...got all slippery when it rained . The clay that is prevalent in that area of Montana is tricky stuff. One of the bennies of a dirt road is not too much traffic other than us or the neighbors used it,,,now people use it as a "cut across" (my son doesn't like the extra traffic so much).
