So green transparent base with orange or a combination of orange, yellow and/or red ribbons, as much or more below the surface as on it. I thought it had to have a green base but wasn't sure. I didn't know about the orange/yellow in and on the marble was also a prerequisite. What I have is not even close then. I need to post a picture but my set up is in disarray. Thank you!

Peltier With Yellow Aventurine?
marbleseeker replied to marbleseeker's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
That would be what happened then. Thanks! -
I seen a golden rebel today with heavy black aventurine, but when I got it into the sunlight, I notice that there was aventurine in the red ribbons and some on the yellow. Did Peltier have aventurine in the yellow? Or was this just something that happened when the marble was made, and the aventurine spread from the black to the yellow?

It's fundraising time again to help find a cure and better ways to manage a horrible genetic disease. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is a great charity that has improved the quality and quantity of life for those that have been born with this genetic defect. Their efforts have helped increase the life expectancy of a child born with CF from 2 years old in the 1960's to 40 years old today! They are also serving as a model for the streamlining of important drugs, getting them to patients years faster than the FDA's "Fast Track" model. Please help my kid and thousands like him with a modest donation by clicking here! You can use paypal or credit card and of course it is tax deductible if you itemize your returns.

I get it, I have some very nice pieces of glass that have cracks. One is a Heisey "Saturn Optic" 12" ball vase in moongleam (green), it was once a prized possession but because it was cracked it lost value in their eye. But just because it now has a flaw does not mean that it is not a beautiful piece of blown art glass. Like many people, we get nicked up and chipped in life. Some people see us differently but I still see the character and the beauty.

This really old dude playing a Slayer cover! Watch his hands, you may find there is a little bit more to that "noise" than you may have expected.

Been my experience that if you won't accept returns on marbles you get less for your marbles. Sometimes a lot less.

What Is This Popeye Box Worth.
marbleseeker replied to Johnny Holmes's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
you can find the reserve amount by putting in a high bid, if you meet the reserve then you will be high bidder at the reserve price. Then simply cancel the bid, rebid with one less zero. example bid $2000, if the reserve is $1000 then that will be the new high bid. So you cancel and rebid at $200 saying you just made a mistake. Yeah it's sneaky but so is our federal government. -
I have some marbles that have a clear or a transparent blue base with marble king patch and ribbon design on the outside. I have been told that some of MK's machines were purchased by a short lived start up and were made in Mexico. I forget the name of the company but some people out there do collect the version I have.

What Do You Think Is Htf?
marbleseeker replied to William Marbles's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Are we talking only Corkscrews? Otherwise, I have a hard time finding Pelt clowns, and those Vitro 8 finger marbles. I have found some fairly rare marbles in my time. A MK Hercules, MK Dragonfly, CAC Peach slag and even a MFC moss agate. But just can't seem to find clowns or 8 finger Vitro.... When I say "find" I am talking in the wild. Like at garage sales, flea markets or antique stores/shows often in a jar. -
Ok since our son was born we have charged more than we should have. Plus I need to pay for my trip to the Comedy 10k competition in Dubuque Iowa! Collectors...ethics..and The Buy It Now Offer
marbleseeker replied to 3oranges's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I know that marble. I've seen it many times because he liked to bring it to the Allegan Antique market and tease me with it. It was never for sale before. -
As I understand by definition yeah. Guineas and Cobras can have as little as one or two colors. Is there a cut line?

Is 33/64 Still Considered A Peewee??
marbleseeker replied to 3oranges's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
A human hair is .003 of an inch. So the measurement you took is 2.5 human hairs on each side of the marble off of a "pee wee". I think you got the marble for a great price and considering that it is YOUR collection not the collection of anyone else what do you really care what they think? Such a small amount off and the price you paid, I would keep it. -
No I still have the entire case.

there is a cut line on the opposite pole. Thanks

It does not have the feel of a polished marble. Feathering can be an indicator but should not be as considered "conclusive" evidence that a marble was polished. I got the marble out of jar. Hard to imagine that someone realized the rarity of the marble, polished it and then tossed it into a jar for $10.00. I own one of Leroy's machines. When you polish a marble in one of them they come out damn close to perfectly round by the time it hits all surfaces. Any remaining damage is often crescent shaped, but even if it is a deep hole, the aluminum oxide is a real bitch to get out. This marble is roughly 3/64" out of round, not around the equator or pole to pole. It does not feel ultra smooth like a polished marble feels. Anyway the whole point of this thread was to show off a rare/hard to find marble. Ya either like it or you don't.

The white specks are dust and debris because I am lazy and did not clean it off. However if it was polished they managed to put a couple of chips in it before I got a hold of it. The area where I take my pictures has cloth on it and it has to be cleaned off. Some items I set up there had a lot of dust on them and tiny bits of drywall and such.
