  1. That's was made by Vancor de Mexico right? Plus he is just making up names now. Or has that been his M.O. all along?
  2. That is why I said probably other colors as well. Normally early Master marbles tended to have strands or orange with their reds. But it looks like you do have a couple that do not fit into that scheme.
  3. I would think that Master Marble company did not make a specific red, white and blue marble. You may find some sunburst that have all three of those colors but probably other colors as well.
  4. Pretty plain really I guess most are considered sunburst but not the real colorful versions some brushed patches. I think it's just cool that all 72 boxes are here and the original case that they came in.
  5. Some are great and some not so great. they way they packed them, the marbles were often pressed against each other. But I have heard of this before.
  6. Just reading this thread as it has been a while since I was here. As for buying cheap, I found out early on that while there seemed to be a lot of hawks making sure people don't sell a Serpent as a Superman, i learned early on the real rip off artists were those who were trying to buy a superman as a serpent. I say that because MOST noobs won't buy a $200 plus marble until they know the difference yet would have already lost their $200 for $5.00 before they figure it out.
  7. Or maybe you do! But probably not It appears as though Master Marble Co. did not think highly of packaging materials. The only thing in the box was this part of the Clarksburg Telegram from May 12, 1971
  8. It is not a marble king since the seam does not have the curve it should. Definitely Vitro and I think they are referred to as a Vitro Elite.
  9. thanks. I feel kind of stupid because I got caught up in wishful thinking. There were plenty of alarms going off when I bought it. But I only paid $10.00 I made up for it by scoring a shooter sized Peltier Superman and a hand made banded opaque the same weekend for $20.00 each.
  10. Yes I would think at least the aqua and blue/white marbles are Peltier Rainbows. I guess the dark blue ones also look like Peltier rainbows. When taking pictures make sure you get the point where the ribbons meet the seams. Otherwise even something as straight forward as a Peltier Rainbow can look like a swirl.
  11. This marble glows green under black light, has aventurine and mica flakes. Would anyone know what run it was or if it has a name coined to it?
  12. Did the people who make the special runs at Jabo perfect "oxblood"? I bought a marble recentlly thinking it was a weird looking brick. Like a moss agate or something. But then I started thinking that maybe it is Jabo because it had aventurine in it. But the oxblood on this marble is much more like akro or MF Christesen oxblood than the known samples of Jabo's from a few years back. It also glows green under black light and non of the other Jabo's that I have do that.
  13. Now that you mention it I do have some sunburst that had some lashes. I did forget about that. So for a more accurate original post it was the absence of the palpable "v" shaped seem that one expects to find on Master marbles plus the presence of "lashes". Then I did what any astute marble expert would do...... I got a confirmation from MarbleAlan! Marblemiser, nice aventurine on that!
  14. So just like Miller's machine had nothing to do with the random pattern of the "Miller" swirl, the "eye lashes" were not fixed by the improvements made by Freese. So the names were not accurate in either regard. But just like the Peltier Miller swirl, once the name sticks it is hard to get rid of. Just as the Native American "Indians"
  15. At first I was thinking Master but then I noticed the pre-freese (sp?) marks. Got a nice amount of aventurine in it.
  16. You show one picture with a clay marble. Are all the marbles shooters? If they are that big I would say they are German and a nice find!
  17. WOW some of those prices. Looks like one person needed to support a crack habit. I mean really, how nice does a red slag have to be to pull $150?
  18. actually yes I noticed that on mine when I was taking pictures of it. The one you are showing has a great pearlized green!
  19. So, Kokomo made marebles that looked like pelt rainbows AND some that had equatorial ribbons like Vitro? Anyway the main thing about this marble IMHO is the PEARLIZED GREEN! I have owned Peltier pearlized patches in the past and it is dead on. Looks like fingernail polish. If Kokomo made "opalescent" glass then this color would be right up their ally right?
  20. Very similar construction to vitro blackies and whities. As I understand it a company made marbles for one year in Kokomo Indiana and they had some machines from Peltier.
  21. Ok I passed one of these up at the Kane County antique show by Chicago a few years back and kicked myself repeatedly for doing that. I finally found another one! Instead of one patch there are equatorial ribbons of that same pearlized green green that you expect to only see on a Peltier pearlized patch.
  22. it looks like most, if not all of the marbles are Akro. That being said then one of two things is correct. 1. It is either an Akro box 2. Someone somewhere knows a little bit about marbles and it wasn't this seller. Maybe a collector put the box together and then died. He bought it from the garage sale or estate sale afterward.
  23. It looks like a Vancor DeMexico Michael Angelo with weaker colors. I have some with these colors, the bright colors and some with a frosty acid etched base.
