  1. And it's a veteran! Been turned and re-sewn.
  2. Second pic top left, probably Alley, if that's drizzle . . .

    A Swirl

    I like that one.
  4. This is almost a bit much - - - if I had seen it myself I'm not sure what I would have done! (Make sure you scroll all the way down for the right perspective . . . >>shiver<<)
  5. Welcome! (I'm an 18-year veteran of Cleveland. Was there on the tragic day when the Browns were moved . . .)
  6. What he ^^^^^ said. Also what Galen ^^^^^^ said.
  7. I'm not one to talk, since I only have one that falls into this category. It doesn't have a patch or a cloudy area -- it's all "cloudy." It back-lights the cloudy / fiery orange of opalescence . . .

    A Cac Bloodie Thing

The only thing I can think of is that the term "bloodie" was earlier than either Peltier or CAC -- those (white) marble marbles with red veins were called bloodies first, weren't they?
  9. Me too. Do you know if the dark orange with black/purplish-gray horseshoe cats are also Parkersburg?
  10. Looks like Bar-B-Q sauce to me.
  11. I agree that the cork is a blueblood -- nice!
  12. I like it! And confirm that "gold lutz" is "gold" aventurine, or "goldstone," a precipitate of copper. No real gold involved at all. (Real gold has been used as a colorant, but in the right quantities it produces red, not anything metallic looking.)

I thought they had been overtaken by the Borg. Almost started wearing tin foil on my head.

    A Cac Bloodie Thing

I don't know. The first Cardinal Reds and the Cerise Agates were hand-gathered. Do you think that whatever CAC boxed as Bloodies were hand-gathered? Or did CAC even have boxed hand-gathered marbles? [insert = not bringing up Guineas and things in this context! Forgetabboudit.] I always assumed that once they (both Akro and Peltier) switched to machine mades, that was kinda the end of either having a special name for their red slags. But I'm not box-smart enough to know that Akro had a machine-made / corkscrew version of their Cardinal Reds. Any pix? I could certainly be way wrong. Way.
  18. I could live without one of those. Living without a Cannonball. however, is problematic . . .
  19. Great. Now I need a Skunk, a Honey Bee, and a Key Lime Pie. Oh, and a Cannonball. I should live so long . . . .
  20. Not off the top of my head, but I'll measure it this weekend. I've found a smaller one too . . .

What gets me is that if you lived in a city (like Chicago, for example) you used to be able to avoid the crazy people because they were the ones talking to themselves. Now half the people on the sidewalk are jabbering away at full volume, talking to their Invisible Friends. And a good half of the remaining half are just frozen in place, staring at their phones. Gr.
  22. In another thread (Marbles with a Name), J_Ding and I both expressed our uncertainty when it comes to IDing CAC bloodies. Part of my problem, I think, is that I haven't seen more than one at a time, and then only at widely-spaced intervals . . . If we could have a bloodie thread, with pictures, and people telling us what they consider to be the hallmarks of a bloodie, that would be a fine thing. Here's my (probably only) contribution, to start off with - - -
  23. What a great idea. I'm going to start doing that too! And let's try to get a bloodie thread going -- I'll start one and maybe we can get people to chime in . . .
