  1. I see in Hansel's pix, the glass from the top has been twisted to the right at the pontil on the top. If the pontil was attached on the bottom it would be a left twist. Can't any twist be called a left twist or a right twist depending on which end you view the marble? It seems to me it doesn't matter if the maker was left handed or right handed, the resulting marble would look the same if you turned it over?
  2. I can't believe what I am reading..... Ann and Galen agreeing???? wow...lol
  3. Pontils go away almost all of the time. I am a lampworker and use a torch. The glory hole artists have an advantage because of the volume of clear glass that can be applied in one dip.
  4. Hey everyone, we had over 400 people come through the door the first 2 hours of the show and stayed busy all 6 hours. I had to "clear them out" at 3pm because we had to be cleaned up by 4 since a wedding was going to use the ballroom! I stopped counted after 2 hours there were so many people from the public coming through the door! It was sure nice to see Galen!
  5. My understanding the figurine was dipped into a crucible of clear glass. This usually causes a small bubble of air around the figurine. Sometimes this air gets moved and trapped as a big bubble of air. I have been able to get the glass very thin near the bubble but not exposing the figurine to room temperature air and getting it to pop and go away, then getting the glass to center the figurine.
  6. I have repaired at least 75 sulphides with only 3 exploding in my kiln. None of the figurines in the 75 were harmed in any way.
  7. ok everyone, next Saturday is THE day!!!!! Hope to see many of you all at my show
  8. YES THERE ARE NEW VENDORS. MAKE SURE YOU STOP BY AND SAY HI! (oops, just noticed I accidentally hit caps lock)
  9. Orange County (Fullerton Ca) Marble Show - be there if you can. I have been overwhelmed with phone calls about the show after the West Ways magazine posted about the show - hopefully there will be a higher foot traffic flow this year than last year (550 people last year was pretty good I think). ps. I have just a few tables left if you are considering vendoring there (PM me if you are wanting to sell at a table at the show) Rich
  10. I can't believe the difference of my sight - everything is clear and not foggy!!!!!
  11. I am recovering from my left eye medical procedure - removed a cataract - have a new lens now and I can see clearly once again. Wore glasses for 50 years and the left eye was never right. Now I only will wear glasses doing close-up work! The world is nice and clear once again!!!!!
  12. Thanks! The show is made up of 43 six foot tables where vendors sell their items. It goes from 9am until 3pm on Saturday March 15th. You'll find a blend of vintage sellers, contemporary marble maker vendors as well as marble jewelry and misc items for show and sale. Rumor has it that there will be a person that has the largest known German swirl there at my show for display. I was told by AAA that the West Ways Auto Club magazine has my show advertised in it!
  13. I am setting up table assignments for the March 15th marble show and I need to know that you are wanting to get a table to sell at the show. The cost is the usual $50 per table. Please let me know if you want a table to sell at the show by he end of the month or sooner. Thanks
  14. Dang and here I could have administered the spanking at Las Vegas - have a good one Dani!
  15. ann, you wait in line BEHIND me and Jeeperman, I have a BIG piece of coal calling YOUR name!!!!!
  16. Now I have cat eyes! Going to sell it? If so, PM me.
  17. I never EVER have used a Dremel tool on any marble Galen - get your facts straight before making a fool out of yourself in public! You have no idea of the incorrect statements you make Galen since I think whatever you say you think is the truth no matter of the facts. Ever tried to reheat just a spot on a marble of that size? No, I didn't think so because if you did you would have seen it explode because of thermal expansion/shocking. Maybe you should do a bit of research or practical application using glass first before making your personal FALSE judgments of others. I wonder what your personal and private agenda is here as this seems to be your common thread bashing others without facts or practical experiences in the areas you choose to speak about. I, for one, am getting tired of it and suggest you take several marble making classes using a torch so you'd have some experience so you wouldn't confuse torching with Dremel usage.
