I think of wirepulls as primarily European. That influences me in the fuzzy areas. If it looks "close" but I can tell it's American, I probably don't feel tempted to call it a wirepull. If it looks close to what an American marble would look like but I know it's European, that biases me a little and lets me call it a wirepull anyway.
Since yours look American, I would call them "transparent swirls".
Someone could probably post an example which would test the boundaries of what I just posted but for the moment that's where I am with the term "wirepull".

Thanks Clyde! This is one for the archives.

Your lighting looks like it is improving. Fewer of the orange pictures. Just a hunch, but I think that will help both sales and ID's.

Welcome, Jeff. 30 years worth of handmades! That's exciting just to think about.

New forum. New intro.

Hi, I'm Steph.
I've been collecting marbles since 2003. I collect mostly machine-mades but I have a fondness for ceramics.
My greatest interest currently is marble history.

There's a limit of 425 kb per post. I think that's why you could only attach one photo at a time, Dave.
Now stepping aside to listen and learn, since I don't know about beads.

The ones Galen (lstmmrbls) posted? Yes, those resemble CAC Guineas.

We have a new forum. You don't have to be new to share your story. Introduce Yourself!
I might post up something, but first I need to decide on a spiel. The goal is interesting yet believable.

Yeah, that could be Asian, Asian, Master.

More copies of the Big Time comics and other classic ads can be found in The Open Road for Boys. I don't remember if I'd ever heard of that magazine before. These are from '29 to '31.

Cool enlargement there, Winnie. Much more satisfying to see the large view.

While in the neighborhood, here's one orbboy posted which looks like one in the Reg'lar Fellers set. He said a sliver under 3/4".

Here's a Reg'lar Fellers puzzle box which said "Made in Japan", though some suggested it was only the box and not the marbles which were made there. The seller said these marbles were 11/16".

Here's an itty bitty picture of a box, and a pic of its label. Got the pictures from a Marblealan auction. Don't know who got the box.

Here is what the auction description said:
This lot, A MARBLE CONSIGNMENT, consists of a 100-count marble box (ca. 1930s) with approximate dimensions of 5-3/16" by 5-3/16" by 17/32". The only marking on it is a small side label reading "100 Bolitas/No. 00/Asst. B/Industria/Japonesa," indicating manufacture in Japan and sale in South America, probably Argentina. The marbles all measure about 1/2" (13 mm) and represent eight different color combinations of "Patches" arranged in 10 columns ....

What a wonderful box!

Here's an assortment including some with what looks like oxblood and some with aventurine:

Ooops, these wouldn't all be called patches, would they. Well, I don't mind non-patches if you don't mind.

Wirepulls Vs Swirls - Is There A Fine Line Here?
in General Marble & Glass Chat

See, there you go making me wonder about my boundaries. Maybe someone would call that one a wirepull. The ribbon looks pretty wiry. I'll step back and listen to what others think about it.
