🤔 I think my messaging needs a lot of work. There is close to zero overlap between this incredible forum and the purpose for which we made Nichibles, other than a common love of marbles! These comments are very helpful for me in understanding where things are at, so please keep 'em coming! The tool I'm offering is new, but I'm not trying to change all the good things that have always worked. I've been a member here and at other forums for over a dozen years, sold 1000's of marbles on Ebay with 100% positive feedback (and collected many more 1000's from everywhere!), and know that in-person and in-hand is the real way marble-collecting thrives.

No panel of experts. This is organic and is our first attempt to share the tool we've made and personally use. The very last thing I would ever want to do is to dilute or harm the integrity of the marble-collecting community. If I receive feedback that the integrity of the examples is not accurate and could not be easily corrected, I would disable that feature until a solution could be found.

That would indeed be quite expensive! I'm sorry that the pricing isn't presented more clearly. The membership pricing is only ever $3/mo no matter how many actual records you have entered. The $9.99 expansion packs are a one-time only purchase that permanently increases the maximum allowed by 100. In your case, putting in 1000 marbles means you would need 8 expansion packs which would be roughly $80 (once ever, not per month or year) plus $3 per month that your pro membership is active. If you stopped at 1000 marbles, the first year would be $116 and the following years would be $36 per year. I hope that makes sense, let me know if you have additional questions!

Nichibles is essentially an organization and accessibility tool for collecting. We think it is fun to enter and then fun to do things like: Search for all my AV marbles that have red and blue colors and see them in a virtual display. Regarding misidentification, that is an excellent question that has really been at the heart of the confusing state of marble collecting and selling. There is already too much misinformation out there and we never intended to tackle that problem. It is up to individuals to catalog their own records correctly. Shared examples are only from subscribed members and need to be approved before being publicly viewable. We know we're just getting started and are looking for exactly this kind of helpful feedback!

Yes, this is something that I and my family built for our marble collection. We are working on other “niches” but marbles is our focus. All info is completely private only to you unless you share it in a poll, submit it as an example, or transfer it to another user or list it on EBay 🙂 and even in those cases only certain fields plus pics are shared. Thanks for you suggestion on the links - I will see what I can do!

Similar but a few notable small differences. The similar one you pictured is a slag - note the thick bright white throughout the transparent red base (plus different seams and movements/patterns in the glass) -> red slag. Yours has a clear base with soft white and red ribbons going around the marble (and some interesting strands through the center). I would definitely have with my Pelt rainbos.

Not the expert here, but the colors & construction look to me like Vitro. The base looks opaque and colors don't look veneered over clear and are pretty intense with a bit of swirl, so even without 4 colors maybe it is a small Parrot (Parakeet)? If veneered it would fall under Tiger Eye I believe.

I agree - crease pontil on a Japan transitional

I can't answer why Miller Machine is no longer used, but I have some of these and believe they are called multicolor swirls (MCS). If they have ribbons instead they are multicolor ribbons (MCR). To me, all 5 do appear to be Peltier MCS. Others will kindly correct me if I'm mistaken.

I would have guessed this was a CAC but it is 0.79-0.82" out of round. Very confused.

This marble looks like a game marble except for a really big eye and what looks like a seam. Any thoughts?

These three stuck out from the rest - can anyone ID? The first is very blonde, the second lighter than most ambers and the third is just really cool! Thanks!

Thanks - I'm adding some better shots of the ox if that helps. The glass is clear with no tint - for some reason today's lighting showed up blueish

What do you think - are all four Alleys? The first looks an awful lot like pictures of a Pennsboro I've seen elsewhere. Is there a way to tell where certain Alleys were made? I'm happy with just a maker ID but thought I'd ask. Thanks!

Could I please get some help with ids on these - all have me stumped. The ox seems more swirl than cork, plus it floats on one end and dives through the middle to a spot on the other end and is syrupy? The last one I thought was Akro seams but the patch looks almost like a Berry Pink? Thanks!

I'm seeing Peltier multi-colored swirl colors/glass, but I'm very new at this so just my guess.

There are small bubbles in the glass, but second to last set of pictures is surface damage. I think I've figured something out - see if this makes sense: it appears to me to be a CAC cyclone that has been damaged and polished. I noticed a somewhat slippery feel to the marble and much of the surface pits are rounded and smooth rather than sharp like I have seen on other marbles. Can polishing make detection of the seam more difficult? In any case, I appreciate all the feedback. Time for me to move on to other puzzles!

The 9 o'clock must have been a reflection. I can't locate a second seam even with a loupe. There is an interesting sharp cut off in the last black fleck (see below) which seems to extend beyond the fleck with a barely noticeable change in the glass to the left, but I wouldn't think it is a seam. It is odd how the fleck is stretched at one angle (see 1st pic of additional photos) but a straight line at another angle. Would a dealer be able to confirm if I took it to a show? Being in FL there's no place I know to get an expert opinion.
