And is this a Miller type or a NLR? It's 39/64 (.60) inch. There is some light UV in the slightly different shade of green seen in the center of picture 6.

Mine sure looks quite similar to those, and since i have no other calligraphies to put it next to, I'll be willing to call it one on most days. No matter the exact classification, it is still a very nice marble I am glad to own. On a side note, I'm really enjoying your wonderful book on WVS. The spectacular pics in that book led me to this being a calligraphy. And I did notice that many of the Alley's you didn't label as calligraphies were really equally busy/flamey to some you did, so I see why it can be hard to pin down every marble into an exact category. Thanks to all for their input!

Unfortunately, no oxblood. But keep at it- you'll get it down! Once you get used to seeing Oxblood, you won't have any problems IDing it. It will become automatic. The Akro's you posted yesterday that had it are very nice examples. Use them to contrast against other reds. You can see the difference. It's darker, blacker, and opaque. Really looks like dried blood. Looks like you got yourself some nice marbles overall though! Enjoy!

It has a much nicer orange than the other one I posted, and clearly a far better pattern. It's 41/64 (.64) inches with no UV. I'm getting better at recognizing Peltier marbles, but still have a hard time knowing if they are older or newer Rainbo's, or from the Miller machine. (Those are older, rarer, and more desirable- correct?) So maybe I'm just hoping this is from the Miller machine...

Definitely orange and what looks to be black aventurine. 39/64 (.605) inch with no UV.

I don't even have a guess on this one. It's a more frosted or not glossy finish, has what looks like a pontil (pic 1), is 39/64 (.61) inches with no UV. It is completely opaque. There is what appears to be some kind of filling attempt in a couple of the creases (it doesn't wash out, even with a scrubbing) and the pontil and chips look to me like they are smoothed out- so maybe it was polished? Or half polished and that is why the frosted look?

Wow! I bought it as part of a group of 200 marbles that I paid $800 for. There was a ton of good stuff in it. Over 75 antique hand made- three are over 2 inches and several with lutz including 30 or so Onion skins/Joseph's coats/clouds. The Greiner and Navarre you folks helped me ID were in there too. There were also 8 Akro Oxbloods, 5 MFC Bricks and a bunch of other goodies- including this one. Most all are near mint/mint. (In fact all of my postings so far are from that batch, with more to come as I take pictures of what I can't ID.) It was the deal of a lifetime! (With maybe more to come, if I get lucky!) I bought them from a lifelong antique dealer/estate sales/import/export friend. He has made his living doing this for nearly 40 years and has gotten lots of marbles over that time. He knows they are valuable but hasn't really had an outlet for them. And for him, they are kinda small fry in the scheme of his overall business. So I am the beneficiary! He brought me 65 lbs of marbles to look at and I bought the 200 from those. I choose ones I wanted for my collection and some that I knew/thought were valuable. I'm sure I missed a lot that a knowledgeable collector would have grabbed. The 65lbs are but a fraction of his stash! I hope to look at and buy more in the future. I'll try to get bulk pics next time.

Yesterday after folks ID'd my marble as a Yasuba Asian Transitional, I looked at a bunch of images of them on the web and yours sure looks like them. Same color and patterns. Like Fire said, it looks like a pinched pontil at 9:00 in the first pic.

I probably should have said hand gathered, not transitional. And I was thinking that CAC was the manufacturer, thus "CAC Transitional". But I've heard that the use of the term 'transitional' is no longer viewed as current terminology by some, though I see you use it, so maybe it is still current. I'm newer to this and still working on getting all of the terminology down. Please excuse my ignorance- I am always happy to learn from the more experienced! Do you think it's a CAC made marble?

This is a great little marble. It's 19/32 (.59) inch. No UV. Is 'Cyclone' a correct term for it? It has a sunken core with a nice long tail that comes to the surface.

or an akro with a cold roll? Picture 1 and 2 have what I think might be a pinched pontil. Am I correct? It's 2/3 (.66) inch diameter. No UV.

I've seen it described as a "Rib Cage" pattern in the Veligglass- esp. as seen in Chad's pic of the blue marble. I've always liked that!
