  1. A maybe Ruby Bee...red is transparent, but doesn't run deep. John
  2. That's something I hadn't considered. I guess I really didn't see the glass quality as something that matches those. John
  3. Well, since it was said we could add our names: I call this one an Akro Special Polychrome Cork...because, how many colors really are seen here? Who really knows! Really like that hint of pink/purple, and the condition of this mib...that condition! John
  4. Good evening everyone. You know what I'd like this to be: at 0.65" and bright bright bright colors. The seams are bent and twisted...and throwing me off a bit. Thanks for your thoughts! John
  5. Dave: Thanks a bunch! I think the small size of the mib and the slightly broad curve of the seam was throwing me off. I'm convinced, and greatly appreciate the actual examples and input! John
  6. So true! So true! There is no summit on Mount Marble!
  7. It really could be taken to be a deep amber, for sure...super deep in this case. I've learned, and then forgotten, about the honey bees. Could anyone post another example? Thanks! John
  8. Here is another one. I can see why that other picture might be taken to be MK, but what about this one? The other two are more along this line. I'm confused (and OK with it!). Thanks! John
  9. I wondered about that. I have a very strong light, and I get a bit of light penetrance but it stops very clear to the surface, in similar ways with both. i have some confusion about how much depth there can be before it isn't opaque. It seems often to me to be more of a condition of degree, not kind...a continuum of light transmittance from lots to none, or nearly so. But I'm still learning! John
  10. Nice! A skunk. Thanks so much Dave! John
  11. So, all these Pelts are at 0.60" and on opaque black glass. I have about four of the first and two of the second example. I'm just wondering what experience you have with all these? Are these opaque Rainbos or are they clowns? If you got 'em, post 'em! Perspectives appreciated. Thanks! John
  12. Great! I am getting some more like on my swirl education. I thought maybe Jackson too base on the UV cullet that they used. Didn't feel confident enough without some added help. Thanks a bunch! John

    A Swirl

This one 0.60". Might be distinctive enough to find a comparable. Thanks for your thoughts! John
  14. Some of the examples I have twist, and some match up.
  15. Sorry. I saw that, but not sure what happened in the photo lab. I usually do have a number of views...I'll dig back into the pictures and see if I can fix this. John (Edit: fixed first set of photos...sorry!).
  16. Malts. Nice. That's a good name...gets it just right. John
  17. For the moment, I really do think it's a Pelt. As a thought experiment, imagine replacing the base glass with green, and the ribbons with red, and voila, a dragon is born. But with mibs, and so much more in life, I've been wrong. I'm happy to change as the data change me. John
  18. The base is a very light tan, maybe a hint of peach or pink hue...certainly very hard to describe. I think picture is an accurate representation of the colors of this marble when I put them next to the monitor. John
  19. Yes, I them with my NLR's for now. Let's see what others say. John
  20. This second one is 0.62" and a bit different than the other four, and still is UV reactive. Likely a variant, but another example. Thanks! John
  21. The first is 0.66", I've found about five of these or so, and the ones I've checked fluoresce green under UV. I'm sure some would see this as a boring mib, I think it still very interesting. Any information appreciated. If you have pictures of yours, please post them...seeing more always helps. Thanks. John (Edit: Added two new pictures and deleted a near duplicate)
  22. Nice tracer grouping. Let's round it off with a Peltier Bloody Mary Tracer. Sorry the yellow is a bit washed out! John
  23. Thanks everyone! Keep the ideas rolling. It is a very interesting marble it seems, and I'm glad it generated a minor bit of wonder. I'd guess this would be a keeper. John
  24. This one is 0.60" on a vaseline base. My thinking is that this isn't oxblood, or it is weak, or ox made by a company that didn't venture into this area much. Not strongly banded with darker striations in the red glass. Just not sure. And yep, this one is a uranium screamer! Thanks! John
