I am a photographer... mostly sporting dogs in the past. Now that we are "retired" and in an area without a lot of events to photograph, I tend to shoot other things. We have a great rodeo in town and I like to cook sometimes... hahahaha.
This summer I got a bug up my hoohah and entered about six pieces in our county fair. All but one got blue ribbons and one even got adult best of show. Whooda thunk it?
So I framed them and now I don't know what to do with them... my walls are already filled. The asparagus is printed on "metallic" paper so it has a certain depth and dynamic...I then framed it with a metallic frame for fun. Not my normal style. Most ladies like the cowboy pic... I had another, similar one, in color that I gave to our dog breeder's daughter who is a young rodeo girl.

I spent part of this week taking single pics of my grandfather / great-grandfather's Native American artificat collection. They are likely all from the West Virginia / Ohio area and are "found" (vs. purchased) items. When I got these they were in a dilapidated cigar box. Now I have them in display boxes and learning about periods, etc. There are pieces from the paleo, archaic and woodland eras. The handle looking thing is called a Bird Stone and, if authentic, is very rare and somewhat valuable.
But, as with my marbles, what on earth will I do with these? No one in our family would want them, or would appreciate them. So for now I can touch them, think and dream about who made them, etc. and one day I will need to find an organization or museum who will want them.

We had two cool collections recently from grandparents. I thought yours was one of them. They don't happen that often.
Only 15 marbles?
Blasphemy!
I know, I know. I don't know I could even choose. Because I even love the big bags of "reds" and "blues" and "browns." Heck, even the bag of "broken and damaged" have some interesting things.
I guess I will just enjoy my first winter in the PNW playing with, and losing my, MARBLES!!!!!! HAHAHA.
One cool thing to do is photograph them in snow.... hahahahahah.

If I remember correctly, a lot of your marbles came together as an inheritance. Is that right? ... some nice ones which deserve to stay together.
ALL of the marbles are inherited... there are two "modern" marbles in the front that aren't old but still came via my parents. The rest are from my grandparents / great-grandparents estate. I am starting to call all of this The Williams Collection.

I spread these out and hubby says... "Sheesh!! Overwhelming!! Just save your favorite 15 and then find a collector!"
But HONESTLY... how would you choose? Each ordinary one is special... and every special one (rear of the photo) is super special. And how the heck do you even find the time to assign value????

LOL... for photographing the marbles or the power in the house??? We are in central oregon and everything is pretty mild here so far. We have had a nice rain and gentle breezes but that may change. Not quite the same "over the hill" however.

I must say... I like that little Sara Lee lunchmeat container as a storage box!!

I just got back online here after retiring and moving from SoCal to Oregon. Retirement is GREAT!!!!!!! Sleeping in is GREAT!!!!!!!!!! Having a husband under foot is something to get used to but he just brought me a hunk of soon-to-be-pulled-pork he has been smoking all day so I guess that is great too!!!!!

I posted here MONTHS ago before we packed up, retired and moved to Oregon. So now, as autumn is setting in and we become a tad more housebound, I will get back to my organizing and categorizing!!
Nothing new to report... except that my beauties are still packed away and I need to get them out!! LOL.This pic may jog your memory.

Ah thanks... "football" is what I was looking for. And, yes, from my family's collection. I only have two marbles in the box that I think came from my parent's home, but not from my grandparent's home. I need to post them... they are pretty but clearly "new."
