  1. Love the pictures. That first one is a dapper looking young man. I am sure he is ready to knuckle down.

In the second picture he has definitely outgrown marbles. there are girls in that picture and no self respecting agate pusher would be caught dead hanging out with girls (yuk, cooties, :worms: )

    thanks for sharing.

    HAHAHAHAHA!!!

  2. I think I would have to say clear base.

I remember a ways back asking some "marble dude" about my marbles. He said I had some good ones, but most were ordinary. Now I get that... when you look on ebay most marbles at a buck or two max... costs more to ship, right?

Some day... I PROMISE... I will allow my collection to go to a home I know will appreciate them. I have no kids to leave them to... no nieces or nephews who even know what a marble is but for to hold up maybe flowers in a vase (right?)... I won't need the thousands of dollars my collection will garner (SARCASM)... I will just want them to be held and loved as I am now doing....

I truly appreciate the help and interest I have found here.

  3. As I have mentioned, all my marbles (except two "artsy" ones I haven't even posted here) were inherited from my grandparents' estate in St. Marys, West Virginia. MY father was born in 1917. He eventually graduated from college and left St Marys to serve in the Army in WWII. He never lived in St Marys again, but visited as an adult and we took family vacations there once I came about.

Here is my grandfather as a young man. Maybe he has a few marbles in his pocket there...

  4. I am increasingly fascinated by my marbles. Especially all the size differences. Some are obviously large. Some obviously small. But sometimes there are super subtle differences... I am finding you just have to spread them out... touch them, hold them, hold them up to a window, etc... to really discover all the nuances.
