  1. I paid up for a bag of marbles today. I'm hoping I didn't overpay. The glass seems to be a higher quality than most Jabos. CAC or Alley?? It measures 21/32. Thanks!
  2. Appearance wise there is nothing remarkable about this marble. Size wise though it measures 1 1/4 inches. It's verneered. The blue patch makes me think newer MK. Could it be Vitro? Did they even make marbles this size?
  3. I'm happy with it Schmoozer, and you are so right! "Buy it when you see it." I've put items back before to "think about it" and came back and they were gone! Ron, as always, thanks for sharing. Your knowledge and generosity are very much appreciated. Many thanks y'all and good hunting!
  4. Thanks. The iPhone takes pretty good photos. Thanks again!
  5. Thanks Ron. I will put with the Type Ones. Thanks again!
  6. The only other interesting thing I found today is this Vitro. Blended Tiger Eye? Measured 5/8.
  7. Awesome! Thanks Chad! Thanks Ron!
  8. Thanks Alan. I learned the hard way about "fantasy bags" and I really overpaid in the past for Jabos and newer MK. I think this one is real though. Still paid too much but I think it's cool.
  9. I bought this bag of marbles today at an antique store. The seam looks right, flat staples and the hole is large enough to hang over a capped soda bottle. Is this a "real" giveaway or just a very good fantasy bag? Marbles are swirls, probably Alley. The bag is pretty cloudy. Does anyone see anything special?
  10. Great information! Thanks y'all! So I Googled "Akro Sisterville Patch" and up popped a Marbleconnection link. It took me to a posting that Steph made June 15, 2010 that features photos and a narrative by Ron about marbles found at Sistersville. A very interesting read. The story of my Sistersville patch is not nearly as intriguing. Mine came from the bottom of a jar filled with overpriced Asian Cat Eyes, but I still think it's pretty cool that I now won one! I love the history. Thanks again guys for sharing!
  11. I'm pretty sure this is Akro but I've been pretty sure before and been pretty wrong 😁! Thoughts? Does it have a special name?
  12. WOW! Love the color combo. There are some pretty ones out. Here's a few I picked a couple of years ago.
  13. I think the last 3 are Akro. Google "Akro Fire Opal" and you'll some good photos for comparison.
  14. Blue and yellow ones look like Vacor Blue Tang
  15. Bar Keeper's Friend and toothbrush works wonders on rust stains. It hasn't failed me yet..
  16. Opalescent base...Acme Reelers?
  17. Could be Rick. Thanks for your input!
  18. I'm pretty sure its a Vitro but the unusual color combination has me wondering. Could it be imperial?
  19. Ron thanks for all you do keeping the history alive! I enjoy learning the history almost as much as I enjoy studying the marbles. Thanks for sharing the photos and the stories. I'm looking forward to the next video! Many thanks to all and Happy New Year!
  20. I just finished watching Stephen B's Alley Agate Marbles Part 2 video with Ron Shepherd. Fantastic video guys! Thanks for putting it together. Anyway, the video has me digging through my swirls. No obvious treasures but I did find a few interesting ones. This one is kind of flamish. Sistersville Alley maybe? Measures 21/32
  21. The yellow one looks like a Champion. I'm not sure about the others.
  22. Great information. Thanks for sharing Cheese!
  23. Thanks for sharing the link. I had found a few examples but I did find this. Very cool. Thanks again!
