  1. I'm pretty sure this is Akro but I've been pretty sure before and been pretty wrong 😁! Thoughts? Does it have a special name?
  2. WOW! Love the color combo. There are some pretty ones out. Here's a few I picked a couple of years ago.
  3. I think the last 3 are Akro. Google "Akro Fire Opal" and you'll some good photos for comparison.
  4. Blue and yellow ones look like Vacor Blue Tang
  5. Bar Keeper's Friend and toothbrush works wonders on rust stains. It hasn't failed me yet..
  6. Opalescent base...Acme Reelers?
  7. Could be Rick. Thanks for your input!
  8. I'm pretty sure its a Vitro but the unusual color combination has me wondering. Could it be imperial?
  9. Ron thanks for all you do keeping the history alive! I enjoy learning the history almost as much as I enjoy studying the marbles. Thanks for sharing the photos and the stories. I'm looking forward to the next video! Many thanks to all and Happy New Year!
  10. I just finished watching Stephen B's Alley Agate Marbles Part 2 video with Ron Shepherd. Fantastic video guys! Thanks for putting it together. Anyway, the video has me digging through my swirls. No obvious treasures but I did find a few interesting ones. This one is kind of flamish. Sistersville Alley maybe? Measures 21/32
  11. The yellow one looks like a Champion. I'm not sure about the others.
  12. Great information. Thanks for sharing Cheese!
  13. Thanks for sharing the link. I had found a few examples but I did find this. Very cool. Thanks again!
  14. Here are some pics of the game. Box lid is a bit rough. Instructions refer to "balls" and not "marbles." Could be the marbles are not original to the set.
  15. Thanks Chad. They're attractive marbles but a lower quality for sure.
  16. You know, now that you mention it they do look like peppermint candies.
  17. I bought a marble solitaire game today. It came with 33 of the white & red marbles like the ones below. They kind of look like Peltiers but the glass doesn't seem right. There are some roll marks and some divots near the seams. When back lit the base is translucent. They measure 11/16. Figure 8's maybe??
  18. Bruce we never did decide on a maker. The consensus so far is that it old and pre-Jabo. Before I cleaned it the marble was sticky and caked with grime. I don't think it had been cleaned for years. For now I'm leaving it on the finial and I'm gonna display it that way. Thanks again y'all for the input and the photos!
  19. Chad if you can find them I'd like to see them. Akros look awesome! And to think I was going throw the metal part away... These are so cool! If I don't see them in the antique stores I'm going to ask to ask for sure. Thanks again guys!
  20. Thanks for sharing. Funny thing, I've been going to antique stores and flea markets for many years and had never found one. I saw 3 this past weekend at different vendors. I bought the swirl but let behind a blue clearie and a white opaque. I wish I would have bought them now. As a group they would have made an interesting display.
  21. Thanks for the input guys. The piece was so grimy when I found it I really think it's got some age on it, but I've been fooled before. It's very similar to a couple of Jabo shooters I have but perhaps I have them misclassified. Regardless though its an attractive marble and a keeper. I think I'm going to leave it on the finial. Do you have a photo of the red & yellow corks?
  22. So as soon as I stopped looking I find it. I popped the marble back in. This is what it looked like when I found only a lot cleaner.
  23. My wife (or maybe me) already tossed it. I found an example though on Ebay. Different marble but that's what it looked like. The marble was pretty easy to pry out.
  24. I went to an antique show this past weekend and found a lamp topper with this marble attached. I thought it was an old swirl and paid $5 for it. Now that I've removed from the clamp that held it and washed most of the nicotine off it sure looks a lot like a Jabo. Could it be an old Alley? Measures 31/32. Thanks!
