This one has been a conundrum for me. I have always thought that it sure looked like a “Berry Pink”. The trouble is that it is just under 5/8”. “Berry Pinks” should be at least “shooter” sized from what I can gather. Tell me what you think. Marble—On!!

Hello dannyboy, I would have a hard time not calling this one a one--off pelt "Red Zebra". A very cool looking marble indeed! Is there any Aventurine? I would love to see some more images of this one. Marble--On!!!

Hello William, I would sort this--regardless of fleas--as a double seam slag. Could be from a few different makers. Marble--On!!!

I should have added the anealing or cooling process as well Dave. The slower that glass cools, the better the end product. Check out these two videos, one from Jabo and one from a Chinese operation. The Jabo marbles are dumped together rather quickly and are of course more prone to "bruising". Marble--On!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xLgJ0ZajrE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqQK5JY31qM

This is just my feel/experience Dave. Jabo, are "softer glass" imho" More likely to bruise than get a small chip/fleabite. When I see flea bites or dimples I am always looking at a more vintage or a harder "cooked" marble. Vintage makers were making marbles to compete with actual stone agates. The more durable the better, given the times. The colors prove what they wanted to achieve, along with the assigned names from the history of earlier machine made marbles. At 5/8" this would have to be a "stellar" Jabo. If it was closer to 1”, I might call it a Jabo myself. I just call them like I see them. Marble—On!!

I would like to see some more images of this one. I would not call it an Akro but I think that your hard-lighting may have leared some folks toward Jabo. Try some natural light images. There is a dimple in your third image and a flea bite on the second one that stears me away from Jabo. I am getting a more vintage feel from this one. Marble--On!!

I would say Imperial (asian), just because of the rough cutline on a marble of this size. Vacors seen to get more pronounced cutoffs/seams in the larger ones more often than in these smaller ones. Marble--On!!

I would sort this as a Vitro. Marble--On!!

These are from the same maker IMHO Mojo--probably the same run. The marble making process is not accurate from marble to marble. The colors are but the marbles just cut-off and roll differently from the start of a batch/run to the end. The marbles are sorted into many thousands or millions and then packaged. Of course the ones with the blue included are more pleasing to the eye but that is why we sort my friend. The two base colors tell the story for me. Marble--On!!

I do not know which is better, the wood or the marbles--Love them both! Marble--On!!!

Here are three what I consider to be nice pinched pontil marbles, found by yours truly out of various lots. 5/8” or slightly larger. The Amber is older---much older, the Red is probably Japanese (Yasuda?) and the Blue—well I just do not know. Swirls or slag’s? I guess that I would call the Red one a swirl. Check those odd slags and swirls for a pontil —Ya just never know. (I have to use head magnifiers nowadays—I have to up-grade, anyone know a good one?) Any opinions are of course, more than welcomed. Lets See Your Collection
akroorka replied to PittsburghMarbles's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
You have done well Pittsburgh. It is a great collection. My eye keeps going to the lemonade/oxblood plate---it is a great one. Marble--On!! -
Let’s just call this one a hair or two over 1”. There are tons of Oxblood and three colors besides. This is the best example that I have of a fully filled Oxblood patch in this size. Not perfect but this is 2021 after all. There is probably enough Ox in this one to make a 5/8” Brick. Marble—On!!!

Let’s stretch this a bit further. The base glass (whitish) looks like Peltier to me. I have not seen this type of seedy glass in a Vitro marble. Tell us what it is not and start from there. Not MK, Not Akro, Not Master, ---- still leaning Vitro for sure because of the green Vitro “only” color. Marble—On!!

This is a tuff one. The green most certainly sings Vitro to me. It would be a stretch for a Parrot, the pink looks like a stretch of the reddish color. Big old “Bulls-eye” maybe? Is there another cutline? Marble—On!!

Not Picky Al, just accurate👌. Marble--On!!

A few hours late is OK with this one---Love it👌. Marble--On!!!

Hello Gladys, Are you sure that image #4 is the same marble as #2 and #3? Marble--On!!

I also have peewee’s on the mind today. I shot these last night, so it must be going around. Hard light goes through them so easily that I do not even know what to call them—cute I guess. A little beat up but who cares? They had to live a long life with the bigger siblings knocking them around. Marble—On!!

That is one very nice/rare box of game marbles Ron. Thanks for showing it. Marble--On!!

This glow may not make it valuable but it does make it desirable. If I had to choose between this and any other variety of game marbles I will always go with the glow--I love the glow! Show the cutlines/seams in any other marbles that you may post--it is a great help. Size matters as well. Glow--On!!

Many companies world-wide made patch marbles like this one. If I found it in a lot, I would sort it as a Vitro. I could be something else but that is the way that I would sort it. I have read that Vitro sent some different color combo's overseas vs those sold in the US--this could be one. It looks like a nice clean marble non-the less. Marble--On !!!
