  1. The food was good...and cheap. My lobster thermidor cost me 320 Thai Baht (about $7.50 US at the time).
  2. Vacor's Web site shows Octopus as being currently available: www.glasfirma.com/toys/vacor-marbles
  3. Singapore is also 100% true. Hong Kong was a planned stop, but ultimately got canceled.
  4. Can you source Jasper locally? If so, it would likely make a good-looking marble. I've thought about making marbles, even though I'd have to get the tools. Lack of secure storage space is what always kills such dreams for me.
  5. My favorites are Sno-Balls and good ol' Cupcakes (be they chocolate or orange). But I've tried several Hostess treats, and the worst was excellent. And there are still more for me to try!
  6. I'm saying those are lies.
  7. I just completed an audit of the contents of my chest freezer. Soon I'll be having a ribeye for dinner!
  8. These two photos show the remainder of what's in my marble jar (for now). I'll add more sooner or later. A mix of types. Top row: Rooster and Peacock. Middle: Panda. Bottom row: Starfish and Owl. I seem to like opaque types. Top row: Blue Tang and Red Panda. Middle: Elephant. Bottom row: Ladybug and Blue Dolphin.
  9. Being out of round wouldn't bother me. That is a fantastic marble!
  10. Thailand is 100% true! I have cats and a dog, but no rabbits.
  11. Yes indeed. Singing at the Vatican was also a lie. I visited Hong Kong while in the Navy. I visited Singapore while in the Navy. I visited Thailand while in the Navy.
  12. The piñata party is the lie. I have a dog who hates the vacuum cleaner. I have a cat who hates having her tail touched. I have a rabbit who hates rock music.
  13. Thank you! Nice to meet you as well.
  14. I was meaning to look for those, as I'll need one for my 1" marbles...eventually. Thanks for the link!
  15. I would agree that the one on the left in the first photo looks like a Jabo.
  16. I'm saying that's a lie. And I can see how playing hockey can be hazardous to one's nose. Continuing the game... I have had a hard hat prevent nasty injuries to my head...twice. I was fired from a job for doing 115 MPH in a company vehicle. I once worked in trash disposal.
  17. Awesome marbles, Melissa! A few more of mine. I'll start with the cream of an eBay bulk shooter crop. There were a lot of duplicates, and one arrived broken. In the center is a Snow Leopard. Clockwise from top: Poison Dart Frog (pretty sure), Polar Bear (I think), Starfish, Firefighter, Seahorse, and Thunderbolt or Samurai (not too sure anymore). Edit: there was good reason to be unsure of that last one. It's actually a Dragonfly. Some from my marble jar. Clockwise from top left: Caterpillar, Chameleon, Monarch Butterfly, and Stingray. The last one for now is a neat-looking Caterpillar shooter. I'm almost afraid to use it for its intended purpose.
  18. Congratulations, and thank you for your contributions!
  19. While keeping a marble in its original state is preferable, trashing one that could be improved by polishing is definitely worse. Of course, that's provided that the marble's altered state is fully disclosed. Potential buyers should also know how to tell if polishing has been done (which is something I should do before I start extensively purchasing old marbles). I have some pretty strong opinions on alterations of collectible items, but I'll hold off on sharing them for now.
  20. Very nice! Sadly, I lack the space for such a display.
  21. Vacor Blue Dolphin crossed my mind as well. However... These Blue Dolphins all have some amount of white, as do the rest of my players. The date code on the players' header card is 7 July 2018. The few in my marble jar that I looked over also had white patches; their date is 25 January 2016. Additionally, the shooter measured out (imprecisely) at 25mm. That said: does Kiwigal's marble have any white patches? If not, it's possible that Vacor changed the color composition of Blue Dolphins at some point. But I'm more inclined to say it's Asian. Of course, I'm far from expert, so take my opinion with a heaping helping of salt. 🙂
  22. That's a heck of a group! Though I must say, some of the slingshot ammo looks salvageable...if displayed so the flaws are hidden.
