Bob, I shouldn't have put him in it for the way he abused me but he's always nice to my kids so... Thanks for looking, Joe.

Hello everyone, its been a while since Ive made it to a show. Fortunately for me the good ole Indiana Marble Club puts on two shows a year, one in Indianapolis and one in Kokomo. As usual the show was great. Here are a few pictures and comments. 1. Some of the folks that make it happen. Club President, Beth Morris. 2. Greg Morris and his young marble collecting protégé. 3. Kim W, Kim is the clubs Secretary. 4. And last but not least, Mike A. Mike is the clubs VP. On a side note, I always wonder what people at the hotels think when they see a bunch of people walking around with pistol cases. 5. Some of the folks attending the show. Here we have Dick Goddard hamming it up. 6. Larry is a collector that is interested in Chinas. 7. Here we have a lady named Rhonda. Rhonda was Steve S. around anywhere? I know you usually have to remind him when its time for the show 8. Eddie W. hanging out in Chucks room. 9. Art The Jokester Jones. 10. The white marble in the lower right says Over the Hill on it. For some reason Art thought that I looked like I needed it so he gave it to me. Thanks Art 11. Some of Arts marbles. 12. Art had several boxes at the show. Here is a nice Akro box. 13. I look forward to seeing Bud & Lonnie at the shows. They always seem to be enjoying their selves. 14. Some of the marbles they had on display. 15. And some more… 16. And a few more. 17. Chuck and Eddie. 18. Some of Chucks marbles. The big Bengal Tiger was a knockout. 19. For the Vitro fans. 20. A nice case of $5 marbles, there were some real deals in there. 21. Dale DeHart. 22. The Twins, Ive shown these marbles before. Mike Adams wrote a great article about them that you can read HERE. 23. Some more of Dales marbles. 24. Here are some more of Dales hand mades. 25. Dan Crocki and an unnamed collector. 26. Some of Dans large selection of marbles. 27. And another tray… 28. And some more. 29. The folks from Kokomo Opalescent Glass Company were there. 30. They brought some of their new marbles with them. 31. From what I understand the marbles were manufactured on Jabo machines using KOG company glass. 32. They had some nice sets put together for reasonable prices. If you would like to contact them through their website HERE. 33. Friday evening before the show, from the right. Koko Ken, Rick, Dan and a gentleman that I failed to get his name. 34. The dug Kokomos that they were looking at. 35. Mike Meade. 36. Mike had an interesting thing going on. He had made box sets of all the Jabo runs. I think that he excluded the tank washes but each box contains seven rows of five marbles from each run. He currently has 42 runs represented and is selling them as a collection. If you want his contact info e-mail me. 37. George Sourlis and a herd of young marble collectors. 38. A couple of really nice marbles that George brought (bottom two). 39. George showing the kids the wonders of magnification. 40. Next kid looking through Georges famous magnifyers. 41. Beth giving Rocki her raffle prize. The club had a free raffle of very nice items that were donated by the vendors. 41. My daughter with her raffle winnings. If you made it to the end thank you for taking the time to check it out! Also thanks to Indiana Marble Club as well as all of the vendors and collectors for a great show.

Hello everyone, Here are a few more Opals. A two color with no yellow (one of my favorite Opals even thought its not that fancy) a two color with yellow and a three color with no yellow. They seem to be pretty distinct when you see them, the opalescents even shows up pretty well in photographs I think. Thanks, Joe.

BMCC Winter Show 02-13-2010 This is a pretty long report; it was a dynamite show with lots of sellers and lots of buyers. I’ve tried to include as much as I could but it could have easily been twice as long. 1. The 5 and ½ hour drive to the show looked pretty much like this. Consistently white. But anytime you are going to a marble show it’s always a pleasant drive. 2. I arrived at the show on Friday and was able to get in on some of the room trading of which I failed to take any good pictures of, so I’ve placed this nice BMCC graphic (which I pirated from their Site) in here to fill up the space for this series of pictures. 3. Steve “Smitty” Smith. Successful events never just happen. They are always a product of someone’s hard work, and effort. Smitty was the hard work and effort behind the scenes that brought about what I think was one of the most incredible marble shows I’ve ever attended. Thank you Smitty and congrats on a great job! 4. Brian Estepp had an interesting day. A collector that had been at the show had left to catch his flight home, when he got to the airport he realized that he had accidentally picked up someone’s keys at the show. He called Brian and asked him to make an announcement to see whose keys he had. While Brian was making the announcement the gentleman at the airport was describing the keys to him, at this point Brian realized Oh (fill in expletive!!!), the man was describing his keys. He had to send a courier to Cleveland to pick up the keys. 5. Items that Brian had on display, some vintage handmades and some of Brian Graham’s contemporary oxbloods. 6. Some more of Brian’s marbles. 7. And some more. 8. And a Morphy’s auction booklet. Not for sure why I took this picture, if you’re not familiar with Morphy’s they have some nice marble auctions. 9. Bill Bass. Bill always has a super display of marbles that he brings to the show. 10. Some of Bill’s Boxes. 11. Some handmades. 12. And some more handmades, some of these marbles are huge! 13. Mike Coyle; Mike was sporting a new head mounted optical device that looked suspiciously like the one owned by George Sourlis. Mike claims that it is really his but I intend to give George a call to see if his is missing. 14. Dave McCullough and Chris J. 15. Bruce (Triker) hanging out at the marble show. 16. Ron Shepherd chatting with Dave. 17. Ron Yutzy from Indiana braved the snow to set up at the show 18. As did Lonnie Conyers. 19. Bo Stiff came in from Arizona. I picked up a nice Master Comet from Bo. 20. Lee Linne traveled from Washington. 21. Jim O’Connell. 22. Jim had a killer handmade china, if anyone needs a bigger picture let me know and I’ll e-mail it to you. 23. Tom Rudolph had an over the top handmade. 24. A better picture of the marble being back lit. 25. Griff made it to the show... 26. Along with some marbles. The pumpkin marbles were made by Nadine. Griff had given my kids a couple of them at the Decatur show. Pretty Cool. 27. Griff had a Louisville Slugger at the show; I thought that it was protection against marble muggers or something… 28. Then he showed me it real purpose. It’s a marble case; I could see a nice Peltier “Baseball” collection being housed in this unique case. 29. Galen Wilcox traveled all the way from the West Coast. 30. Here is some of his Vacor collection. 31. Some more. 32 And even more (Vacors one and all). Nice marbles Galen 33. Jeff, AKA Columbusrockhound. 34. Jeff made up these super Jabo Boxes, note the date on the box, 2-8-10, he must have been hustling to get them done in time for the show. 35. Ed Parsons. 36. And some Jabo boxes the he brought to the show. 37. Kris Parke from Ohio. 38. And some of his fine handmade contemporaries. 39. Brett Young of Hot House Glass. 40. And some of his contemporary handmade marbles. 41. Julia Powel. Julia’s hand painted marbles are awesome!!! The paint that she uses is mixed with fine glass and is kiln fired so that it won’t wear off. 42. Some of Julia’s marbles. 43. Some more 44. And one last shot. 45. Tom Rink of Greene House Art Glass. 46. Some cool kaleidoscopes’ that Tom makes. 47. I tried to take a picture of the view inside of the kaleidoscopes’. 48. Another look through one of his scopes. 49. Mark Thompson from Washington, this fellow is a real hoot 50. A better view of some of Mark’s marbles. 51. Bob & Brandon Byard, Bob also has some great auctions on eBay under the name of vintagemarbles. 52. Some Akro Glass that Bob brought. 53. Eddies Seese… 54. And some of his fantastic marbles. 55. Craig C. also known as BuckEyeDr 56. Bob Neff, Bob is the Newsletter Editor for the West Virginia Marble Collectors Club and an all around nice guy. 57. Joe and Sammy Hogue, Sammy told me that “Joe was the one with the money but he was the one with the good looks”. As fine a gentleman as you would want to meet. 58. A nice crowd of marblers. 59. Joe Wilkinson. The following is an account of how Joe W. (almost) lost his marbles. As the showing was nearing its end Joe asked me to keep an eye on his table so that he could walk around and see what everyone had before they packed it in. While he was out looking around the gentleman to the left of him started packing his stuff up. Joe had two bubble packs of marbles that were sitting near the fellows stuff who inadvertently picked them up and packed them away. When Joe got back he looked at his stuff and said “have you seen my bubble packs?” I thought that he was messing with me and I told him no and kind of smiled as if to say “nice try but I ain’t falling for it”. Then he looked at me and I could tell by the look on his face that he wasn’t kidding around and he said “are you messing with me?” At that point everyone standing close started franticly looking around for two bubble packs of marble. The only problem was there wasn’t anywhere to look, I was for sure no one had picked anything up from his table but since I had accepted responsibility for watching his table I was starting to panic. I kind of just stood there like the proverbial deer in the headlights. At that point the man in the red cap discovered the bubble packs in his stuff and everyone sighed with relief (I wanted to hug the fellow as I had been standing there thinking that a couple of years of my marble allowance had just been spent.) I think that I may have actually did a jig I was so relieved 60. Joe’s (almost) lost marbles. 61. What better way to end a day than going to the Winking Lizard for a bite to eat? 62. Carl & Chris J. 63. Galen Wilcox., giving me the stink eye. Something to do with me calling his marbles Vacors. 64. Smitty. 65. “Winky” The Winking Lizard. 66. Check out Winkys digs. Trees, television all the free hors d’oeuvres he can eat, that lizards living large. If you made it to the end thank you for looking, you can check out some more Marble Show Reports here at joemarbles.com. I don’t want to get anyone confused with the ID of Galen Wilcox’s marble. The marbles are obviously not Vacors, I was just pulling Galen’s leg. They are really some extremely nice foreign made Imperials, probably the nicest group of them that I’ve ever seen.

bigtee0, I'm not for sure what Kevin's last name is. He runs a marble forum called allaboutmarbles. http://www.allaboutmarbles.com Thanks, Joe.

Kevin (allaboutmarbles.com) and his daughter. Thanks, Joe.

I get them to shovel snow by telling them that I'll take them to a marble show. I will have to keep the threat of feeding them to large felines in mind just in case there isn't a marble show to bribe them with.

Sue, Ken, Al and Smitty, thanks for the nice comments. I had a great time at the show Ken; marble people are really nice folks Al, Diane is a very thoughtful person not only of people but of animals as well (I think that is why she gets along with my kids so well She volunteers at the Exotic Feline Rescue Center West of Indy, a very cool place. (http://www.exoticfelinerescuecenter.org/home.html) Thanks again everyone, Joe.

That would be a good one to see. Does anyone know of anyplace on line that you can see the whole Dirty Jobs show on Jabo. I've seen parts of it and looked really cool but I haven't been able to find the whole thing. Thanks, Joe.

Hello everyone, here is a report on the Indy show. I’ve posted it on all of the forums, if you get tired of seeing it I apologize. January 9th 2010 Indianapolis Show 1. The day of the Indy show had arrived and I looked outside to a bunch of snow… So I did what any good father would do and handed his daughter a snow shovel. My son tried to take my position as an observer but as you can see in the next picture my daughter got him lined out. 2. Kids sure are handy 3. We got to the show and checked out who all was there. 4. Notice that Griff and Bill O. are listed twice? I was relieved to learn that it was mistake; there was only one of each at the show. Bill O. is a nice enough fellow but I don’t think the world is ready for two Griffs. 5. A lot of people braved the bad weather to make it to the show, Rick and his son Jake (not pictured) made it. 6. The Splattman! Rhonda must have called and reminded him. 7. It was a pleasure to meet Kevin and his daughter Kenzie. 8. Chris J. A great guy who has the best hand made collection I’ve ever seen. 9. Diane B. gave my kids a couple of animatronic puppies, you push a button and they roll around and play Christmas tunes. I asked our Pomeranian why he couldn’t do that, he just looked at me like I was stupid (so did my wife). 10. Diane entertaining kids, when we go to a show my kids always ask if Diane is going to be there. A wonderful person, thanks Diane. PS, Diane after the kids went to bed me and Karen played with the puppies 11. Mike A. manning the Id/Appraisal table. 12. Kim W. keeping an eye on things while Mike is out wondering around. I wasn’t able to get a picture of Beth the club President, she unfortunately wasn’t able to be at the show but she left it in very capable hands with Mike and Kim. 13. Griff, me and Ron Shepard. I’m smiling because I’m at the marble show, Ron’s smiling because he’s a happy guy and Griff is smiling because he just lifted my wallet. 14. Griff counting my loot. 15. Ron, Kokoken and Steve S. 16. The light outside of my favorite marble room. 17. Chuck B. answering questions for a collector. Chuck has the most spectacular Vitros that you will see at a show. 18. Some of Chucks marbles. 19. The marble that I circled was a killer parrot, I should have taken more pictures of it. 20. Some more nice Vitro’s. 21. George S. a really nice marble man. 22. Some really cool Vacor’s, Michelangelo’s. Vacor does make some pretty marbles. 23. Some more of George’s marbles. 24. And some more. 25. Elizabeth and Steve, Steve loaned me several really cool marbles to take pictures of for my site. Included were some 1991 Jabo’s , these were some of the very first classics made. Thanks Steve. 26. Some other interesting things that Steve brought to the show, here is the shear from a 1932 Vitro machine. 27. Here is a cup and shear from a modern Jabo machine. 28. The cup is stationary on the marble machine and the shear sits in a water cooled platform that moves back and forth and cuts off chunks of glass as it flows into the cup. Very neat stuff. 29. Ron Yutzy… 30. And some of his collection, I thought the remelts were interesting. 31. I really like clambroths. 32. Some John Hamon Miller contemporaries. 33. Lonnie Conyers, he usually hangs out with this guy Bud (whom I failed to get a picture of), a couple of real marble nuts. I had talked to Bud he told me that it had really been a great show for him and that he wished it would last a couple more days. 34. Some of Bud’s marbles (I think). 35. Some of Lonnie’s marbles, the Vitro, 3rd row down, 3rd from the left is a really neat marble. If I hadn’t been robbed by an unnamed party earlier it would be in my collection. 36. Some nice Popeyes. 37. Jim Gaudin. Nice meeting you Jim, look forward to seeing you at future shows. 38. Jim had some nice marbles as well as this killer paperweight that he brought to the show. 39. Some of Jims Mibs. 40. And here is a few more. 41. Bill Bass, Bill always brings some killers to the shows. 42. Here are a few of Bills marbles. 43. And here are a few more. 44. I usually take more pictures of Bill’s marbles but for some reason this time I didn’t. So to fill out this group I’ve inserted a picture of a bald guy with some Christmas puppies per my son’s request. If you made it to the end thank you for checking it out. If you would like to see some more show pictorials you can find them at www.joemarbles.com. If you would like to see larger pictures of any of the marbles please let me know and I’ll e-mail them to you. Also if you would like contact information for any of the people selling marbles please contact me at [email protected]. Thanks again, Joe.

Hello everyone, thanks for all the nice comments. The show was great fun, Chuck's Peltiers that he showed me were awesome. I wish that I had been in a situation to take some better pictures of them. Sorry Griff, those kids of mine are shameless when it comes to mooching marbles Thanks again everyone, Joe.

Hello everyone, here is a report on the Pride of the Prairie Marble Show. Chuck did a great job as usual. There was a great group of sellers and buyers and everyone seemed to have a great time. I am posting this on all of the forums so if you get tired of seeing it please accept my apologies 1. Navigator #1 acting like she knows where we’re going. 2. Navigator’s assistant not even pretending to know where we’re going. 3. In spite of our lack of navigational skills we eventually make it to the Land of Lincoln and… 4. The Pride of the Prairie Marble Show. 5. Here we find some of the usual suspects; Art Jones and Bill Bass were set up in their usual place. 6. Some of Art’s marbles and a witty sign they he claims works pretty well. The sign reads “Reasonable Offers Accepted – Unreasonable Offers Considered and Insultingly Low Offers Tolerated”. 7. Some of Bill’s marble related items, acquired from the Les Jones collection. 8. Another picture of some very unique items. 9. Some of Bill’s marbles. 10. Some more of Bill’s marbles. 11. And one more shot. 12. John seen here giving my kids marbles, he gave them each a real nice Green Pelt Banana and a Yellow Pelt Banana. My little girl tried to trade him her hair band (pictured on his knee) for some more but it wouldn’t fit so John passed 13. Mike C. having a good time at the show. 14. Steve Sturtz acting like he’s doing something. 15. George Sourlis acting like he’s doing nothing (I think he was sleeping). 16. Ron Yutzy doing something and appearing to enjoy it. 17. The gentleman seated is Everett Grist author of the Big Book of Marbles of which I now posses a signed copy. Not for sure who the rotund bald guy is. 18. Some of the marbles that Mr. Grist brought to the show. 19. Some more of his marbles 20. And yet even more. 21. Paul here had some of the coolest Crystal/Mineral spheres that I had ever seen. 22. The crystal parts were incredibly clear. 23. The mineral parts of the spheres varied in color and type. 24. These pictures don’t do these things justice, he is going to be coming to the Indianapolis show and I’m going to try and get some better shots. 25. Don Booher. Don had some nice reasonably priced marbles. 26. Here is one group. 27. And a few more. 28. Gino Biffany, Gino brought a ton of really nice marbles that I can only tell you about because for some reason this is the only picture I took of him. 29. Chuck Garrett pointing to the planet where he got the “out of this world” Pelt that you see in the next three shots. 30. Chuck was curious to see what kind of feedback some of you Pelt collectors might have about this marble. 31. I’m not necessarily a Pelt collector but... 32. I think its ok 33. Now this marble on the other hand. Interesting back story to this marble. The night before the show when the kids and I were getting stuff ready for the trip my wife noticed that I was taking some of the How to make a marble DVD’s with me. She asked me why I was taking them and I told her that I might give some away to some friends and maybe even trade one for a marble or two. She smiled (as if to say “you’re dreaming”) and said “Oh that sounds like a good idea”. I could tell that she thought I was pretty pathetic but boy was she surprised when I come home with this beauty. I found a fellow who was a relatively poor negotiator and swapped him a DVD for this one of a kind German Hand Made (I think). I almost felt like I was taking advantage of the guy. However in the future my wife will have more respect for my savvy business acumen. 34. This marble also one top prize of “Ugliest Marble” at the show. 35. Griff, doing what he does, smiling and hanging out at a marble show. 36. Two super cool marbles that Griff gave to my kids. These marbles were made by Nadine M. Thanks Griff. 37. An up close of a Pumpkin Marble. Great marbles Nadine. 38. The ever jovial Danny Grocki. I always look forward to seeing Dan, he is really a nice fellow. 39. Some of Dan’s marbles. 40. And a few more. If you made it to the end thank you. If there are any pictures of marbles that you want to see a higher resolution picture of please let me know and I’ll e-mail you one. Also if you would like to contact one of the marble dealers featured here please e-mail me and I’ll send you their contact info. Thanks for looking, Joe.
