  1. Maybe you all know this already, but I just came across it by accident: marble article
  2. Thanks for your messages. I will post before and after restoration pics here!
  3. Greetings everyone, I'm looking for rare but damaged (large chips, moons etc) handmade marbles. Certain types are still missing from my collection and they usually sell for way over my budget. So now I'm looking for these marbles in damaged (good minus, collectible condition) that I can restore with my own handpolishing technique. I'm willing to pay good prices and trade good marbles in return. I'm looking for large onionskin lutzes over 1-3/4", submarine onionskins (with floating panels), mica's over 1-3/4" and other rare marbles. Send me a pm if you have any for sale or trade. Thanks!!!
  4. A huge 2-1/2" blue/white 8 lobed cloud with mica!
  5. I'm sure it's not a dug marble, it has a finely ground pontil (which dug marbles never have) and wear of being played with. It doesn't have real ridges on the surface, it might just look like that on the photo's.
  6. It's certainly not a standard JC, this one has bands on the surface, I've never seen a JC that has surface bands and decoration in 3 different layers.
  7. Hi there everyone, I just got this marble today and I have no idea what to call it...I think some kind of Submarine. Let me describe it: the size is 1-1/4", it has a clear glass core with thin blue lines on it with a few spaces in between them. Then above this layer (but under the surface) bright yellow/white/orange lines. Then there is another layer on the surface (like an Indian swirl) with lines of bright orange, bright red, rust-red, white and yellow. So there's 3 layers of decoration. The contrast between the dark blue and bright colored lines is amazing. Here are some pics: I'm looking forward to hearing your reactions!
  8. Here's one of my biggest marbles, an antique 2-1/2" single pontil cloud with 8 lobes and mica!
  9. Where were this marbles found? I have almost the same spotted opaque! Here's a pic of mine: I've also wondered where it came from!
  10. Wow! Amazing marbles in the Morphy's auction. They are even selling a Lightning strike marble!
  11. 2-1/8" in size, onionskin with floating blizzard mica. What a marble!
  12. Yes, Lightning strikes are amazing marbles and soooooooo hard to find. I managed to find 3 of them:
  13. Sweeeeet! Thanks for sharing! How large is that white based onionskin Lutz?
  14. and some more: 2-5/16" single pontil cloud with floating mica 2-1/2" 8 lobed cloud with mica 2-1/2" single pontil, single gather, 8 lobed cloud with mica!
  15. Great topic! I only collect German handmades and here are some of my faves: 1-3/8" single pontil clown cloud 1-3/8" millefiori paperweight marble 1-1/4" painted bird sulphide 1-3/8" yellow base sulphide with cat 2-1/8" floating blizzard mica cloud and a nice group photo:
  16. Polish it, and do it by hand so you will keep the pontils. The damage is very superficial, so it will be quite an easy job. I've restored marbles in much worse condition.
  17. On this page are some pics of some rare handmades: handmade marbles!
  18. It's certainly a Gooseberry. It has a dark (cola like) brown base. It looks darker on the pic than it does for real.
  19. Thanks! I was really lucky because the seller at the flea market put the bag closed on his table and nobody but me bothered to have a look inside. When I opened the bag and saw what was inside, my heart jumped out especially when I asked the price for the bag of marbles and the seller said 20 euro's (which is about $25). I put the best ones on display in my cabinet.
  20. How large is Romanoak's Gooseberry? I'd love to see some pics.
  21. There are big open air flea markets in Brussels. They are on wednesdays and saturdays. Just ask the tourist info when you're there. The Gooseberry is in near mint cond with a just a few small chips and some tiny moons. I found the huge Gooseberry at the flea market in an original bag of marbles, filled with 24 handmade glass marbles. I paid only $25 for the entire bag! Here's a pic:
  22. Yesterday I found a huge Gooseberry marble at a flea market, 1-3/4" in size. I've never seen such a large one. Here's a pic of next to a 5/8" Gooseberry: Has anyone ever seen a larger one?
  23. Thanks! Yes, I was amazed that with over 200 million myspace users there was no marble collector page yet, so I made one myself
