david Chamberlain
Unfortunately due to Kovel's sound bite articles what you get is the usual non-informed, unresearched and off the cuff blather. A bit of a shame too considering the respect that Kovels has gained over the years. David
Al Oregon
Thanks for sharing that article, John. If eBay is considered an auction (maybe not to Kovels), Hansel picked up a painted China a few years back for a little over $10K on eBay so that beats the $7.,700. Steph
If I recall correctly Morphy has sold marbles for higher. Anyone remember a particularly high dollar Naked Razor Ribbon Core? (is there any such marble or did I make that name up? lol)
MARBLEMISER
Steph, you are right. It was a Naked Ribbon core. 1 5/8" I think it went for around 10k or more + a 17% buyer premium. marblemiser
david Chamberlain
I believe there was a painted china that went for $10.000 early on or close to that. Kovels does send out monthly an auction update and general all around fun, in color, newsletter. I have a few doz. of them stretching over a period of years in the 1990s. They are a great reference source for particular collectibles but not the last word by a long shot. David
