If eBay is considered an auction (maybe not to Kovels), Hansel picked up a painted China a few years back for a little over $10K on eBay so that beats the $7.,700.

If I recall correctly Morphy has sold marbles for higher. Anyone remember a particularly high dollar Naked Razor Ribbon Core? (is there any such marble or did I make that name up? lol)

I believe there was a painted china that went for $10.000 early on or close to that. Kovels does send out monthly an auction update and general all around fun, in color, newsletter. I have a few doz. of them stretching over a period of years in the 1990s. They are a great reference source for particular collectibles but not the last word by a long shot. David
