MAIN-MARBLE-MAN
Picked this up today, thought it was interesting, the size is 3 3/8" ..... and solid. The bad thing is, someone ground a spot on the other side and inserted a small metal rod to hold it on a display. Has anyone seen one before? Thanks, MMM

Steph
lol. I figured that's what it was. But that's out of my area of confidence. So you can see inside it?

david Chamberlain
To put a specific label to what you have here it is referred to as a Crosslined Carpet Bowl and pretty standard size. Baumann states that "Crosslined bowls have three sets of equidistant parallel lines, variable in number, set at right angles to each other." Bowls with less than 9 lines per set and more than 13 are rarer. This one appears to have had some action before being honored by being put on a pedestal. david Chamberlain
Thought I'd give Baumann another plug here. In his 4th Edition Paul provides '54' pages to Carpet Bowls. It's actually quite amazing! Like a book in itself. David
