Al Oregon
Neat kaleidoscope! Haven't seen one with the old handmade - one that your Mother had?
Steph
Nifty. Any idea on the age of the scope? How far back do things like that go?
orbboy
Nope Al this was a car boot find for £6.00 the other day. There always seems to be a collectors show or a car boot going in this country. My nutter of a dad drags me out of bed at 4 am to drive a couple of hours to get to one by 6 am pretty much every day now he can get out and deal again. This is a nice old one, but I don't know how far back they go. The handmade came with it but has a big crack in it. It does have a nice faceted pontil but that means nothing when it comes to the age of the gizmo. No car boots today since it is a bank holiday. The show at Berkley castle this morning was a bust. ziggyzora
Balderdash, there are more car boots here on bank holidays than any other day. Nice scope btw.
jlmoriarty
Balderdash!!! Well that should put you in your place, Sir! LOL
sissydear
That kaleidoscope looks like one I have made by Jerry Park. Except he made the marble that was put into it. I guess the style is probably not unique to each maker, but it sure looks like mine.
orbboy
LOL I have no doubt there are car boots today so I'll rephrase it. I aint pulling my ass out of bed this morning since it is a bank holiday. I slept in until 9:30 today. Did not know someone was still making these. Here is a pic of Berkley. Sadly both the castle proper and the butterfly house were closed off for the day due to a street party or some such. It's only 1/2 hour away so I plan to go back to get a better look at it. I like butterflies.
