Killermarbles
This one I bought in Vegas and its around 5" in diameter. The little marble next to it is about 1-1/2"
richsantaclaus
I don't blow glass but I can get up to a 3" marble. I am a lampworker (torch work). At Corning NY, I saw a Josh Simpson marble that was the size of a bowling ball! He is a glory hole glass worker.

Gnome Punter
I would THINK you can make them as big as you have the tools and strength for I would also think the cane or mandrel (Not sure of these are used or the cane acts as one) would have to be sufficient to hold the weight
lstmmrbls
no cane on those big ones
Gnome Punter
no cane on those big ones Well, I meant those big glass rods that you melt I did not know what they were called
lstmmrbls
Its a big metal rod that holds those bad boys in place. And several workers are involved. +
sissydear
If it's soft glass, they make a cane. Just because one marble is made from it, it doesn't mean it isn't a cane. I've watched Robert L. Hamon make 3 inch and above and the process for making one marble is the same as making a cane that becomes 3 marbles or 8 marbles. William Marbles
I have a Jim Davis dinosaur sulphide. It's 5" or 6". I believe Leroy has the same one. Mine's at my aunt house with her Davis collection.
lstmmrbls
Yes but the large marble that makes the cane is made on a metal punty not a glass rod, that was my point.
sissydear
Is the dinosaur a marble or a paperweight?
William Marbles
Sissydear, it's a marble. It's a little bit out of round, not very much. Next time I'm over at her house I get a picture. Might be awhile.
