I have a whole bread sack full of these shells like yours. . I used to pick them up in a field where they dumped them in southern Illinois. The thing about mother pearl and if its in the elements they just disolve away sooner or later. I have a hug pic frame with many pearl buttons in it and some are dyed colors and some are carved.
