rick000brown
I've gotten conflicting information concerning Akro Jolly Roger's and Claudia's. Some say size determines and others patch v's corkscrew. Anything definitive or just random nick names? http://s284.photobucket.com/user/rick_brown9/media/Akro/IMG_20150529_184411943_zpsnwacgtwd.jpg.html
Steph
My understanding is that the names are for the large ones. Jolly Roger for the large corks. Claudia for the large patches. My understanding is based on discussions from 8 years ago. Things may have changed since then.
BobBlock
Specifically, the large corks and patches that are 1-1/8". Not just any large cork or patch in that specific hue of color

Alan
They need to be larger than 1: dia. Almost 100% of them have an orange peel surface. I own one that is slightly larger than 1" dia. - but it is simply a large corkscrew and not a JR.
IowaMarble
Here are a couple of the Jolly Rogers... they both have the orange peel surface that Alan mentions. http://www.mibbage.com/html/akro/00294.htm http://www.mibbage.com/html/akro/00054.htm

BobBlock
exactly what roger h. and claudia stood there and said ....... bill Roger sold these about 25 years ago. He had 27 or 28 of the Jolly Rogers (1-1/8") and a more substantial quantity of the Claudias (1-1/8"). He sold all the Jolly Rogers fairly quickly, but I remember him bringing the Claudias to shows for a few years before they all sold. The name Jolly Roger and Claudia was applied to them much later, I think the first place the name showed up was in one of Danny Turner's catalogue or maybe Alan popularized it, I can't remember. But it had to be 5-8 years after Roger had sold them out. Roger did not apply that name to them, that was done by collectors later.

BobBlock
The Jolly Roger name was applied as a homage to Roger Hardy. The Claudia name actually came about later, not at the same time. The corkscrews (Jolly Rogers) were really sought after early on. The patches (Claudias) were a hard sell for a long time.
