Elizabeth Adams Smith
I found this marble in the surf on St. Croix US Virgin Islands. Is this called a brick? The color appears to be red with gray and you can not shine a light through.
Steph
Hi. Welcome. Fun find. From here it is not looking like a brick. More views could help.
Elizabeth Adams Smith
Any idea the type of marble? We have been told by archeologists that marbles have been found around island and that soldiers dating back to the 1700 -1800's used them to gamble and pass the time. Steph
My initial thought is that it's a machine-made marble from the 1900's. Would have to see more of it to do better than that.
I'llhavethat1
Cool story, I'd love to find a marble while on vacation. *edit* often bricks will have a swirl pattern that resembles a "9" ( red one in the middle is a brick)
wvrons
Not a brick, not oxblood. Not 1700-1800's. Looks like a machine made, 1930-1960's maybe newer ?
