Ravenswood info?

Recommended Posts

I began collecting in 97 and got away from it 5 years ago because of a cancer battle and have recently gotten back into collecting as my health improved. I collected mostly MFCs, CACs, AKROs, Pelts and MKs. And I have a wide selection of those and understand their differences and ids. Now I’m turning to Ravenswood but they are more subtle in style and there isn’t much in identification other than a little gleaned from some of your posts. Any advice on styles and IDing them would be much appreciated, ditto on what’s “common” and what’s of value as they seem to be getting more popular. I have purchased from some of you and do appreciate your wider knowledge. Most of what I have read in books has been short, sweet and generally vague when it gets down to points to look for. Thanks for any advice up front!

Cancer is a BEAST, marble collecting will help the mind for sure and I speak from experience.

Welcome back my friend. Show us what you have collected.

Ric has ingrained my mind with the "whitest whites" as compared to other WVS marbles are more than likely Ravenswood.

Ravenswood marbles are a great and rare find in my world.

Keep on keepin on and of course---

Marble--On!!

Thanks for the kind words and advice. I went over the posts by Alan, very helpful and informative! And thanks for the thing about whitest whites. I had read somewhere that they were like CACs in whiteness and in complexity of swirls and ribbons. Also that the ribbons were often thicker and wider than other WVs and dove deep and often “bunched” on back side. I’ve been collecting pics from the ID posts of RVs but it would be nice to have a few in hand. I just got some photo equipment so will get some pics of a few of my favs here soon. Thanks again ya all.

It's important to keep in mind that only the early batch glass marbles have the pure bright white. In later years they used cullet like everyone else.
